If I could I would give them half a star. These guys are money hungry no good people. They will say that anything is wrong just to get money out of you. Be careful what they say. They are dishonest and you need to pay very close attention when going there for work. They are very shady.

I have been going to Pep Boys on Milwaukee in Portage Park for years. I recently took my car to the dealership for service where an oil change took over 4 hours and the staff lied about why it was taking so long. I needed additional work and thought I would go back to what I knew to be good service and reasonably priced. Pep Boys is always honest and stands by their service.

Was a customer here for years. Took my car for another oil change. Knew they’d be telling me my cabin filter needed to be changed so i authorized the repair. When I picked up my car- the AC was sounding like a race car. The employees told me it would need to be brought back the next day to be looked at bc maybe they left some debris in the car. Ok fine. So I bring the car back the next day and now they’re telling me there’s no guarantee I wouldn’t need to pay for replacement posts bc my AC problem was “inevitable.” My car was working fine before they touched it. Also per their own work insurrection they said everything was in tip top shape. They are the ones that recommended the filter repair but now it’s my fault that my car is messed up lol. Ok. I refused to pay for whatever repairs needed bc it wasn’t my fault my car returned in worse condition. They ended up replacing my motor blower for free. Will never bring my car back here for a simple oil change and cabin filter change. I’ve changed it myself before. Brought it here for overpriced convenience. Will never make that mistake again. TL;DR brought my car here for an oil change and cabin filter replacement and they ended up breaking my AC and having to replace my motor blower but first tried blaming me even though it worked before they touched my car. Don’t bring your car here if you don’t wanna get blamed for problems they create.

They want above and beyond to serve! I highly recommend them due to their compassion and trustworthiness. I live in the Kansas City area. My daughter drove her 91 Dodge Dynasty to Chicago to visit friends, and the brakes went out on her car. I didn't know anyone in the area so I had the car towed to Pep Boys. I'm so glad I did! After they diagnosed the problem (for free) they said it was a bigger problem than they could fix, and referred me to a place next door. In the end, made more sense to sell the car to a scrap place than fix it, and the tech referred me to someone who might buy. The back and forth between the buyer and us took about 5 days, during which the car was still at the Pep Boys lot! And, when we decided to sell, my daughter realized she had left her rollar skates and a jacket in the car--the tech mailed them home to us! If I lived near this place I'd definitely go back. I felt like I had family helping me out!

Usually they're very good with oil change and stuff like that, but lately they've been selling me Cheap or used battery that doesn't last and the car keeps dying on me. Two batteries in 2 years. I went somewhere else and I don't have a problem.

Went looking for a place to get a wheel alignment,front manager was very respectful,with the parking lot full and parking lines bearly visible by I pulled to the alignment bay because it was empty,as I walked back towards the front door I was approached by a grouchy old man with grey hair and glasses telling me I can't park there and then he was persistent to tell me how and where I should park , telling me "don't you see the lines" as a customer that was very rude of him so I took my jeep and went to just tires and rather spend a extra $20 on the alignment then let someone with a negative attitude touch my jeep ,best decision I made and I even picked up 2 tires ,over all that parking lot looks like sht and needs a major overhaul especially with faded parking lines and negative mechanics ,you draw in what you project and that old man is a cancer to the astablishment of pepboys aka Rudeboys

Got 4 new tires for my Chevy Colorado and when I picked it up all four tire pressure sensors were non functioning and they had been working fine previously. Manager told me to drive it around a bit to see if they would reset but they did not. He took the truck back in and installed new sensors at no cost to me. Appreciate that they stood behind their work and made it right. That's how you get repeat business

I went in with a screw in my wheel leaking air very concerned that I’d be in need of a new tire. That young man Mauro really took care of me. Patched up my tire in the blink of an eye even explained the whole process with me and assured I was good to go. Not only is he great at patching tires but he’s also possess great customer service skills. The man even offered to shine my shoes.

Jose saved us with taking our car in within the last hour and a half of the day. We were on our way from Minnesota to Indiana when one of the wheels started to grind. They were the only ones who would take us as late it was. Give this place all the support you can!

On May 21st, I brought my vehicle in for new tires. On May 24th, while traveling out of town at 3 am, on the highway, I noticed the vehicle was extremely bumpy and unstable when I was hitting 55 MPH. I returned to the shop as soon as they opened and described the issue. The front desk attendant was dismissive and immediately attributed the problem to a loose sway bar, estimating repairs and an alignment would cost over $400. Furthermore, he informed me that there were six vehicles ahead of mine, so it would not be looked at until the afternoon. I then took the truck to a local shop, where it was confirmed that the tires had been improperly balanced by an ounce and the new tires still had the old valves. They corrected the balance, I tested the vehicle on the highway and it was no longer shaky or unstable.

Picked up my car from Firestone in Aurora and head out to Chicago for some errands . On the way there I kept hearing a strange noise coming from the front left tire and it turns out that my caliper is not bolted on . I arrive at Pep boys very last minute and thankfully Milton saw the situation I was in and decided to help me out by putting bolts on my caliper so I could get back home safe . Honestly Milton could’ve said tow it and take it back to the Firestone were you serviced it since they were closing but no he helped us out and allowed me to just drive back home . 10/10 for the work ethic and service .
