I walk in @9am for a tire repair with no appointment was told to come back at 11.. I came back at 11am check my car in…. Seeing only 1 are 2 customs making me think I’ll be out of there with an hour, man 🧍♂️ was wrong…2:30pm come around and my car still seating in the parking lot still. Tire repair from 9am to 2:30 pm. Wow what a service.

Took 3 hours to change a tire. Tried to add $30 tire replacement insurance without asking and after all that returned the car filthy. This place needs adult supervision, put down the cell phone and get your job done.

Update: I followed the instructions of the reply I received here and had absolutely no result. Additionally I found out they charged me almost 100 dollars for a warranty. They told me the price I was paying was for service and tires, so they lied on that one too. ——— Use it only if it’s an emergency and there isn’t another provider open. Had an issue with one of the front tires at a Saturday 7pm. Pep boys was the only shop open. All tires were just a few months old, but they convinced me to change both front tires so I could keep the good one as a spare. I agreed with it. When I went to pick the car up, they didn’t give me the good tire back. When questioned, they couldn’t figure out which tire was the good one and which one was bad. They told me the person who did the service was on a break and would come back in 20 minutes. I came back an hour later and they still couldn’t figure our which tire was the good one. I asked to talk to the person who did the service and I was told that they were on a break and would come back only in an hour. I confronted them because that was the excuse given an hour ago. Then they tried to convince me that both tires were bad. I asked what was the issue, and they said the treads were low. I explained that these tires were just a few months old, with not much use, so I asked them to show me. They couldn’t show me the tread issue. At this point, with so many lies, it’s impossible to trust any word from them. I’m just never coming back unless it’s really an emergency that can’t wait. I’ve never had a similar issue with the other tire shop I go to, they are always very transparent, AND they are way cheaper.

Been taking my car(s) here for years. Never been given a reason to stop. Staff changes a lot. Some folks nice, some folks meh. But that’s life. This review and 4 star rating is based off my last visit. Needed an inspection and needed it done by 1pm. Dropped the car off at 8am when they opened and it was ready by 9:45! They text you a link to see how the inspection went including pictures of the various parts of your car that passed or need attention. And now that the retail side of this location is no more you spend less time on the phone when you call over.

Came here for a simple tire and mounting for my new car with under 10k miles. I took a picture of my rim/tire at drop off and came back to a scratch on the face of my rim. The technician and manager both refuse to admit fault, even though I have pictures of the rim at the time of drop off. In addition, the manager Eric was not professional at all and just simply claimed “our machines couldn’t have done that”. He didn’t care that I had a photo of the rim before the service was done and told me to file an insurance claim with my own insurance company.

Thanks to this team for kindly fitting in my tire repair and getting me out in time for another appointment. And, with the warranty on my tires from Pep Boys, the flat tire fix was free!

This place blows. Waited 2 hours before being informed that the vehicle inspector wasn’t showing up. Waste of time. Super mad.

Went to Pep Boys for an oil change - they did not properly install the drain plug afterwards, causing the oil to leak out. No refund or compensation was offered when I had to get a new oil change. I will not be coming back here ever again

I only came for a state inspection. They called me saying i passed but i "failed" the safety inspection due to minor wear and tear on 2 breaks + needing break fluid flush (scam, make sure to google this). I knew I did not need any of this because I just recently replaced the breaks. They attempted to get $800 out of me and made it sound like I needed to do this in order to pass the state inspection. It was very easy to schedule an inspection and have many openings. Just know going in that they will try to scare you into paying them.

I took my 2021 Tesla to my local Pep boys when my car alerted me to a drop in tire pressure on one tire. I assumed it was somehow flat despite having been parked for 12 hours. On my inspection it looked not flat and pretty normal so I drove it a mile to the shop. They got to the car within an hour and told me the tire was bald and needed replacing which they did. I picked up my car 2 hours after dropping it off. Very professional and as quick as could be expected.

I would never recommend Pepboys on Columbus blvd. The service member was rude, and when i asked him if we should review pricing for my tire, he said no and proceeded to charge for a $160 tire. I ultimately asked them to remove it and drove across the bridge to a location in NJ and got a tire for $100 less. This location tries to take advantage of people and get them to pay for more. In february they told me my tires were tread depth 5 and all needed to be replaced. The same tires, yesterday were measured as an 8… i don’t believe it’s possible for them to improve and the manager of the NJ location informed that a measurement of 5 would never warrant replacing all tires anyway. The service manager at Columbus Blvd. could have offered to call another location when i was unsatisfied but proceeded to tell me they were too busy.

Worst pepboys I've visted for service, all I needed was a vehicle inspection. They told me it was going to take 9hrs for the tire to be installed and for me to pass inspection, left my work vehicle with them came back and it still wasn't done. At first they told me it was only the tire was causing the me to not pass after they just did an Inspection then out of no where they said I needed new brakes, rotors and calipers. So I took my vehicle to my usual pepboys and they did a re-inspection on my vehicle told me my brakes and everything else were in great shape. Even the tech got upset and apologized that I had to go through on pepboys behalf. Pls everyone stay away.

Disrespectful and dishonest staff. I never leave poor reviews because I've worked in retail and know sometimes people just have a bad day, but this was such a frustrating experience. I called and specifically asked if they could accommodate a same-day inspection and was told yes. I thanked them and politely asked if there's any chance they don't think they could complete the work same day to just tell me and I'll make other arrangements because I have a child in the hospital and had a lot of driving to do that night and next day so I could get siblings and family members there. I was told "no problem, bring it in now and it will be fine." I also explained that I was driving the car directly from the dealership where they completed repairs that Pep Boys said I needed to do after failing a previous inspection. Fast forward to that evening, I don't hear anything so I call them one hour before closing to ask if the car is ready for pickup. "Oh no, we can't get to it today." After some frustrated but polite back and forth about how I was told it would be no problem to have the work done same day, I say fine they can keep it overnight because they promised it would be first up in the morning. Then I have to scramble and make last minute childcare/pickup arrangements. The next morning I call at 10am (they open at 7) and the car still has not been looked at despite being told the previous night that it's first up that day – after that discussion, I get an automated text that the work is complete, no phone call, and I discover on my own by reading the report in the text that the inspection hasn't actually been done, but they are recommending additional non-necessary work. I call them, and they say they can't complete the inspection until the car has been driven 75-100 miles so something in the computer can reset after the repair that was done at the dealer. I said "You mean the repair I told you I had done yesterday that you said would be no problem to have completed yesterday?" With no apology at all, the staffer just starts asking if I want the other work done (new tires that I don't actually need) and I said no, and to get it ready to be picked up right away. Now when I'm there in person again, 2 days into this, I told the associate that I didn't think I should have to pay for an inspection that they not only did not complete, but should have known they could not complete when I had the conversation with them about exactly which repair I had completed that day which would have prevented the computer reading because they obviously do these all the time and should know this. I get into a stupid back and forth with the customer service person, and before getting too frustrated, I say "look this isn't your fault, but someone messed up and I need to talk to the GM." "We don't have a GM"...after this stupid conversation she finally goes into the back where I hear the manager say "tell him I'm on a conference call" clearly lying. At this point they won't give me my keys until I allow them to steal $90 from me for not doing work they knew they could not do, and promised to get done two days ago, so I begrudgingly pay and am wasting my time writing this stupid but true review so hopefully fewer people give their business to these clowns.

Do not go here for a state inspection. Car mechanics get a bad reputation for treating those who do not know much about the business differently. This is the case with south Philly pep boys. It is one thing to be rude, it is another to never provide your customer with any kind of transparency as to when your state inspection will be complete. They initially told us an hour, then when we came back in an hour they said it takes two hours for the wole process and they cannot guarantee us a time it will be complete or if the car was even being looked at. They put the people waiting for their cars to be serviced in a place that is not visibility to any employees so there is never a sense of urgency. They purposely avoid customers asking questions about their vehicles. Short responses and never looking at you in the eye. Truly disrespectful. I have had great experiences at other pep boys, but this one is just awful.

I paid $100 for an engine diagnostic with the coolant light on. It turned out there was a leak. Service was great and problem solved. The next day the engine service light was on and they wouldn't take the car bc it was considered there could be an engine issue. THEN why did I pay $100 for an engine diagnostic if they don't want to touch the engine. Instead they asked me to bring it back to the dealership. Mind blowing!

Made an appointment earlier in the day for 7pm appt.. Called me 4 hours later and told me that they cannot fix my car, appointment or not. The reason was that it would take approximately 2 hours and they close at 8pm. THEN WHY DO THEY OFFER APPOINTMENTS THAT LATE? I Do not recommend!

Needed to come in for a state inspection in a pinch and they were able to schedule an appointment for me within an hour and a half that same morning. Everything was smooth and simple, from drop off, to text notifications, to pick up -- staff was courteous and efficient. Car was ready to go within 2 hours of drop off and I was back on my way. Prices were comparable to all other shops I had called in the area also. Would recommend!

Had an issue with my horn going off on its own. Held onto my car for 3 days when I had a 9 am appointment. They said they fixed it, but absolutely did not. Charged me $300 and finally gave me the car back with nothing fixed. Horn still broken. They agreed to a refund but it took them 5 weeks to give me the refund, and gave me the run around for over a month. Awful service and even worse customer experience.

I have purposefully avoided this place for the past few years because of all the bad experiences I had and bad reviews. However , after my car died and needed to be towed this was the closest and most convenient place to where I live. Another big mistake! After them selling me more than $1500 in repairs due to an overheating problem, THEN they tell me (and then finally figure out!) that I need a new engine /head gasket on my old 2010 car. Are you kidding!! So now I’ve sunk all that money into their shop for a car I now need to scrap! Why couldn’t they figure this out when they first did the diagnsitics and before selling me all these wasteful repairs?! This goes to show how poor their mechanics knowledge and skills go to trouble shooting. Again, I beg you…DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! /// previous review below//// Confusing incomplete information provided about my vehicle. After I picked up my vehicle on Saturday, I received a call on Monday asking me if I wanted them to do the recommended oil change (which I knew nothing about) and if not, they wanted to “get my car back to me.”” Huh? They didnt have my car. And why would they think it would have been ok to hold on to my car over the weekend for no reason. Then they tell me about a problem that wasn’t even mentioned when I picked up my car. The reason for the call on Monday was “they were catching up on paperwork!” Give me a break! That is sooo disorganized and ridiculous. They’re just so unreliable.

it’s a shame that i can’t leave -5 stars, because giving this place even 1 star is misleading. DO NOT GO HERE. i made a 2 o’clock appointment for an oil change and an AC diagnostics test and when i came back at 7:45, my car was in the same spot in the parking lot that i originally left it in. as i called periodically throughout the day, staff member Ayinde told me they were “looking at it now” and “i’ll call you as soon as we get an update”. nobody ever called me because they never bothered to actually do their jobs. Ayinde is a liar and clearly couldn’t care less about wasting someone’s entire day, this goes for the rest of the staff at this location. i left work early to make this appointment and they literally didn’t even acknowledge that my car existed. thanks for nothing, you’re all spineless and astoundingly incompetent employees.
