AVOID. Came here with a relatively new car and few miles just to get a state inspection. First off, was told the appt would be 1 hour and when I get there they said they will have it the entire afternoon. Get a call 4 hours later that it is done. I was told it did not pass the safety inspection due to brakes and windshield wipers (which I had replaced less than 1 week earlier). Tried to get me to keep my car over the weekend so they could install new brakes and rotors for close to $550. My father was able to get the parts for approx $100 and would do them if needed instead. Had an appointment with another local shop which I didnt cancel. Told them that Pep boys failed the inspection and what I was told (wasn't even given the brake thickness). The local shop passed my inspection, gave me a breakdown, said I had approx 3 more years on my brakes if I stay driving how I do. The guy working used to be at a Pep boys for 15 years and gave me a rundown on all the ways they will gaslight you into thinking you need work when you dont due to faulty wording in the Pennsylvania inspection protocol. Very shady business practices and likely takes advantage of consumers who do not have the time or means to be able to get service elsewhere. I would not recommend this location but if this is a wider business practice, I would advise looking elsewhere if possible.

Got my car inspected and brake pads repaired to pass inspection. Waited for the work to be done and they got me in and out in less than a couple hours. Friendly staff without being annoyingly chatty.

Thomas was a life saver. I got charged $200 at another shop for an inspection and they were trying to overcharge me for the subsequent services. When I came into Pep Boys for a quote, Thomas helped me understand what needed to be done to my car and even gifted me a generous discount because of the ridiculous amount I’d paid for the inspection. The mechanic , Mamoon, did wonders on my car. The brakes no longer squeak and the rotors are fixed. Everyone was professional and respectful. Pep Boys also does do state inspections and for a much lower rate, obviously.

I made 3 different appointments for a state inspection. The first one i received a call before dropping it off but was told it wouldn't be completed until Monday and I asked to reschedule it for the same time next week (saturday 10am). The 2nd time they made the appointment for 8am instead of 10am and told me I was late and they now couldn't complete the job until Monday. I made another appointment with 2 weeks notice and the manager assured me it would be done that day and said he left a note in the system reflecting that. The third appointment was today. I dropped it off, was told it would be done after lunch, and after 5 hours they called me telling me it wouldn't be done until Tuesday. All 3 times I had to travel for work on Monday and all 3 times they were informed of that. Completely ridiculous that after a month of appointments and rescheduling they couldn't complete a state inspection in a timely manner.

The guy when I was checking out was nice but this place was kind of a nightmare. Had a long week, no sleep, landed on a flight to my car dead and I was in no place to be changing the battery. Had it towed here. Stated initially I just wanted a battery shoved in. It got there Sunday. They said only a tech could look at it and one wouldn't be in till Monday. My car was to be looked at by Monday at 12. That turned into Tuesday evening. I got a call Tuesday 1 minute before they closed. Wednesday at 2pm my car was ready. Quoted $330 for a battery and the change. When I asked for a receipt it was suddenly $285. Was under the impression by reviews it would be quick and easy, it took 4 days to put a battery in.

This Pep Boys location is fantastic. As someone wary of dishonest upselling and subpar service in auto repair, I've been consistently impressed by their work. I've had multiple repairs done here, and they've always been honest, efficient, and straightforward. Their knowledgeable staff takes a transparent, no-nonsense approach that I greatly appreciate. The quality of service keeps me coming back, and I highly recommend this Pep Boys to others.

I was able to make an inspection appointment easily online. I brought in my car and was able to email my digital registration and insurance documents. The car was ready when expected and I was sent digitally and given a paper copy of the inspection papers. They also printed out my registration and insurance info and gave those to me after, so now I have them in the car. The person at the desk was very nice and pleasant. I like they are across the street from the Broad Street Line stop, so I can get to work easily while the car is being inspected.

The work seems fine, but the customer service is awful at best, non existent at worst. made an appointment for yearly inspection. dropped off at 8am on that day, received no update all day so i called. they very rarely pick up the phone. you need to let it ring through multiple times. they told me that they werent getting to it that day. i asked whats the point of making an appointment then and i wasnt given an answer but was told that if their schedule didnt work for me i could get my car and go elsewhere. my car failed the safety because my passenger side mirror was cracked. i replaced it myself and called back to come in to get my sticker. i called on a monday and was told that they didnt have any stickers and call back. i called back the next day and was told they still didnt have stickers. they said "lets schedule you for next Thursday." So i waited a week and went in a little after 8am on Thursday. I arrive and they tell me that there are 10 cars ahead of me so i should take my car home and come back on Saturday at 8am. instead of calling me preemptively, i wasted my morning around bringing my car to them, to get turned away. I wasnt able to bring it back until Monday. I dropped it off a little after 8am. I never received a call telling me that my car was ready for pick up. I had to call them at 4pm. In the report that I received, it recommended to replace my air filters. The report that I received the first time had the same recommendation and I paid to have them replaced. I asked while I was checking out and was told "that is just what the tech always puts. we didnt bring it up to you because you had already done it". I would not take any of their recommendations because it seems like they put unnecessary items to scam you out of money. I never received an apology or acknowledgement for any of their mishaps. The work seems fine but I will not bring my vehicle back to this location again.

Where to begin. If it wasn’t for being offered a partial discount (which now I question if that is even enough to compensate me for my wasted time and poor communication) I would have given one star. I had a scheduled appointment on a Tuesday at 10am. No one looked at my car until Wednesday. Then was told it would be ready Thursday. Thursday they said they didn’t get all the parts they needed in and it would be ready by Friday. Friday rolls around and they said their mechanic left before finishing the car and it would be ready Saturday. I called Saturday at 940 and they said it would be ready in 30 min they are just putting the lug nuts out on. 30 min go by and I look outside and my car is still up on stilts and they are doing an oil change. After an hr and 30 min my car is finally off the stilts and they go to start it and it’s dead. They had left a light on or something for too long and the battery was dead so they had to jump it. I finally get in my car and every tire pressure is set differently, my clocks are all wrong, and my messages aren’t reset. There are so many operational problems with this company I don’t even know where one would start trying to fix this problem. I’d find another mechanic at all costs.
