The quality of work from Performance Import Industries (PII) is absolute trash. I paid this shop to upgrade the internals of engine heads with brand-new GSC components and to assemble them with new head gaskets and timing belt components. In the end, they couldn't successfully do the work I paid them to do. The car didn't even make it to 200 miles on the new engine build. It was just problem after problem. The first day I drove the car home from the shop, the car battery almost exploded on the way home. They overcharged it and couldn't accept full responsibility (AGM battery was only a year old). After ordering a new battery and installing it myself, I started the car and found coolant leaking from the bottom radiator hose, so I fixed that myself as well. After driving the car that day, I noticed the multiple random cylinder misfire CEL (P0300) came up. I also started to notice that the car stumbles in low RPM range, making it almost impossible to drive in heavy traffic or in a parking lot. It was an interesting problem where if you kept the RPM between 1k-2k and tried to hold it there, the RPM became unstable, and the CEL (P0300) came up. The car seemed fine at higher RPMs, but then, after further diagnosing, it turned out that the driver-side AVCS exhaust cam VVT values were erratic/unstable and not in sync with the passenger-side at any RPM range. At this point, I had zero confidence/trust in PII to do anything right. In the end, I decided to take my car to another shop to inspect and fix the incompetent mistakes made by PII. Turns out, PII completely trashed my heads and my brand new GSC cams to the point where I had to buy brand new head castings, brand new lifters, and another set of cams. They inspected the work and found multiple areas of improper assembly. The problematic driver-side exhaust cam was making a slight tapping sound at low RPMs, had low oil pressure around the cam, had unstable airflow, had significant wear on all cam journals and lobes, and the passenger-side exhaust cam did not spin freely. So many problems that would ultimately result in engine failure. I learned a lot during this process and was just amazed to see how badly a shop can screw up your car. I'm not sure why PII accepted this job in the first place since it seems like they can't handle this type of work. I feel as if I was scammed; that's how bad the work was. I would not recommend PII to anyone. The owner, Joel, doesn't accept responsibility for anything. After paying the new shop to redo the same work I paid PII to do, the car is finally back on the road and running without any issues. It was night-and-day difference in professionalism and competence compared between the two shops. It was an expensive lesson that cost me multiple thousands of dollars in damages.

I had used PII for a couple years but unfortunately stopped coming here due to absolutely poor communication. I brought in my WRX as there was a weird issue that was causing it do die instantly after turning the key over. Initially, Jonathan was nice enough to allow me to tow the car over to his shop on a Sunday and leave it for him to look over the next few days. What proceeded to happen is completely inexplicable. It sat there for nearly 3 weeks without any proper diagnosis or ETA. It was like pulling teeth to get a response at all, let alone an actual update. From there, I had it towed to Surgeline who diagnosed the problem and had it fixed within hours. Although Jonathan has done some great work for me at extremely competitive prices over the year, his communication and attention to detail over my last few encountered had clearly gone in the wrong direction since his early days. Therefore, I can’t in good faith recommend him anymore.

I would never ever bring my car here again, the entire experience was terrible. Jonathan is extremely unprofessional, not to mention when I got my car back there were multiple missing bolts, loose bolts etc. One of these bolts was the bolt that holds the control arm to the hub. Had it come disconnected while I drove it home I would have crashed. I tightened them up and replaced the missing bolts only to have the bell housing on my transmission crack due to Jonathan not putting the cover on the clutch fork pin. Jonathan misplaced parts of my car in his shop and I had to drive an hour back to pick them up. Take one look inside the shop and you will see he is so disorganized it’s a wonder he’s able to do anything at all, So dissatisfied I won’t even bring it back to have him fix the problems he created. Take your car elsewhere these guys are total hacks. I wish I could give 0 stars on this review.

Joel has worked on several of my cars of the years. Before having the shop he would drive over an hour to my house to help me out. This guy goes above and beyond for his clients. I highly recommend!!!!

Jonathan has helped us immensely! We've taken our subaru to other shops that try to charge us an arm and a leg but when we take it to performance import industries, they give us an honest diagnoses and a far better price than anywhere else we've been! I won't go anywhere else

Jonathan is THE MAN. I brought my subie in for an axl repair and he went above and beyond. I couldn’t be more thankful. I highly recommend him, as he is very attentive, keeps you in the loop on things, mechanical work is fantastic and over all, he is super kind. Thankful I found this shop. Quality work and affordable, not a common combination these days. They’ve also gone out of their way multiple times to help me out, beyond what I expected, and they did so without hesitation. Won’t take my car (Subaru or not) anywhere else.

Dealing with Jonathan from the shop was a breeze. Quality work, quick response, and overall a great experience. I needed head gaskets, timing belt and water pump done. Jonathan also communicated with me that they could bring in an outside service to tune which saved me a trip! Considering I’m from out of town this was so helpful and I really appreciate the work they did. Thanks again!

I found PII through Facebook when I started shopping for the 60K mile suggested service on my Subaru. I was quoted over $1200 dollars to have this routine service done at the dealership where I normally go, primarily out of convenience. Jonathan responded to my post on Facebook and was helpful in offering a much better deal for spark plugs, brake fluid flush and fill, and rear differential service. He also tested my battery. Jonathan runs a small shop of Airport Way and primarily services only Subarus. This would have been a five star encounter excepted that I was scheduled at 10AM and expected my car back about 2PM. I was a few minutes late, but did not talk to Jonathan till he came in about 11AM. I had scheduled a Zoom meeting and had to cancel that as there was really no place at the shop or nearby that I could relax. Since we got off to a late start I figured it was going to be after 2 when I was able to pick up my ride, and I was right. The cost was less than a quarter of what the dealer quoted me and for that I am extremely thankful. I know Jonathan just moved to the location he is and it takes time to get a shop set up so I will certainly come back for the fair service charge alone. Thanks Jonathan.

AMAZING work done by them!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Jonathan gave me a quick quote, and got the job done the day I dropped it off. I had my clutch and flywheel replaced and it feels incredible!! Jonathan and the guys at Performance Import are amazing, they just fixed my headgasket problem (and some other smaller issues) on my 2007 subaru forester. The car runs great now, and they were professional, on time, and super reasonably priced in their services. I will definitely be using them again for my subaru repairs. Jonathan was very forward and quick. I just bought my 2011 outback and the head gasket blew. Not a job you wanna pay for after just getting a car. He was able to fix a couple other things that needed to be taken care of as well and all for less then some shops had quoted me. He communicated with me via facebook and phone calls which made it easy. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for quality work at a great price. Looking forward to using him again in the future.

My hubby and I bought a 08 Subaru WRX that ended up having a ringland failure Performance import industries took our car in and took great care of her! Ended up swapping the engine to a 2017 STI block and coming out with more HP then before! During the whole process the owner texts you pictures and keeps you up to date with the whole build! I highly recommend them and will be going to them in the future when I'm in need of work on my car!

Just completed a head gasket / timing belt / clutch job for an 08 WRX with Performance Import Industries. Jonathan did excellent work. I never had a hard time getting a hold of him, he responded quickly to texts. His prices are extremely competitive and saved me a lot of money vs the other quotes I got. Even after the job was done, when I had a question he responded very quickly. I highly recommend him.

Had the dreaded head gasket problem with my Subaru Forester and Jonathan was able to get the car in right away. He went above and beyond by communicating his recommendations, taking care a lot of other components of the car, and still kept the price within his original estimate. Bottom line is if you're looking for top-notch service at great prices give him a call!

I had just purchased my 07 Forester XT and the A/C was not working and I cringed at how much it would end up costing but Performance Import Industries was amazing. They were flexible with my scheduling needs and when I dropped off my car they went through the issue with me and were able to do an initial visual inspection to help understand what could be the issue. Then throughout the day I received updates and they were able to quickly get everything fixed the same day. Great service and very friendly staff, would highly recommend them.

Jonathan does awesome work and was very good at communicating! He did a high HP build on my WRX with forged internals all for a very reasonable price! Also kept me updated with pictures and video's! Will go back for all future work, thank you for everything!
