Taylor is a great mechanic. Honest, thorough, meticulous, tenacious and extremely knowledgeable. I brought him a 51 year old Harley 125 enduro that wouldn't start. He diagnosed and fixed, in no particular order, electrical gremlins, fuel delivery, spark delivery, timing, and a host of carburation issues. He didn't stop until it was perfect. He sent videos of the work in progress describing the issues and eventual remedies, so his communication is also above and beyond. The bike starts on the 2nd kick stone cold, and pulls like a mule. I couldnt be more satisfied and can't recommend more highly.

Their name says it all: Reliable. Top tier craftsmanship and dependability. The only shop that I trust with my life and my family's life in the saddle. There is no shortcut to success; fortunately, there is Reliable Cycles. I am always thrilled to brag that when our bikes have "that Reliable Tune!" You need it done right, you need it done well, you need Reliability, you need Reliable Cycles.

I had the pleasure of working with Taylor at Reliable Cycles on my 1974 Honda CB360, which hadn't run in 40 years. Taylor meticulously went through every part of the bike, restoring it to a condition that rivals its original showroom state. He also upgraded it with modern features, including LED lights, a new electronic distributor, and an updated rectifier/charging system. The bike now runs beautifully and is a joy to ride. Taylor’s communication throughout the process was excellent—he sent regular updates via iMessage and email, including photos and videos. A huge thanks to Taylor and Candice for their outstanding work! I highly recommend Reliable Cycles for anyone with a vintage bike.

taylor is like a wizard but without the mile long beard. he is the master of classic bikes. over the top communication. he works hard and puts in the long hours to get your bike back to you quickly and dialed to the nines (the guy was sending me updates on late nights and on weekends). now my norton commando rips like a beast. one of the best experiences with a shop. ever. he’s your guy.

Can't say enough good things about Taylor and his shop. Helped me out a bunch with my 1970 CL 350 and was able to turn it around quick for me. If you're in the bay and run a vintage bike, Reliable Cycles is your shop.

Look no further then Taylor at Reliable Cycles! I brought my 1969 Yamaha DT1. It wasn't running and had so many issues that I couldn't figure out (I know nothing about Motorcycles) but Taylor had the expertise to get the job done! Great turn around time. He also explained the mechanics of how to ride the bike since this is my first motorcycle and I had no clue what I was doing. When I brought it back home I put the key in and on the first kick it started! Was at a loss for words After 40 plus years of collecting dust. It runs now better than ever! Looking forward to bringing it back to get more rad work done on it!

Taylor is an absolutely amazing mechanic and I wouldn't hesitate to send him my bikes. Ever. He's extremely knowledgable, super thorough, and really easy to get along with. He documents his work, frequently checks in with the owner whenever a (costly) decision needs to be made, and his quality all around is top notch. Don't think, just go to him. Old bikes, new bikes, it doesn't matter, he is a savant in his craft.

Taylor was great to deal with, he took care of my bike and was always in communication on what was being done to it or issues with it. He definitely knows what's up with these vintage bikes. I'm so glad I found him, now I have someone I can trust to take care of any issues I may have. Thanks again Taylor!!

Very knowledgeable owner, he gave me advice over the phone and helped me find parts for my Vintage Honda CB750!

After a lengthy, costly, complete motor repair and restoration by a renowned vintage Honda shop in L.A. my '73 450 was running quite poorly. Thankfully Taylor was able to speak with me on the phone, give advice and slot my machine into his busy schedule. Well worth any wait, Taylor made short work of fixes with his complete and detailed analysis and diagnostic. His familiarity and experience with vintage motos is so deep he can see issues from a distance, and knows what coming. He has the touch of a surgeon, the expertise of a world class mechanic, and the honesty and openness of a philosopher. He is most kind, affable and willing to share his knowledge and his findings. Truly, He is the embodiment of confidence and competence: a blessing for those of us who love old machinery. I believe he did save my moto with his perception, talent, skills, and concern. Words can't capture my gratitude. His work is well priced and its value is sometimes beyond measure. I gave him money, he have me friendship, fellowship, understanding and true generosity. I believe if you seek him out, you will find great reward.

Can’t recommend Reliable Cycles and Taylor enough. I brought my vintage Honda cb350 bike in after having 2-3 seemingly qualified mechanics “fix” it and Taylor immediately pointed out like 20+ things they completely botched. In the end he completely re-worked the bike and it finally feels exactly as it should. It’s honestly an insane difference and to his point it makes you realize vintage bikes can ride and feel just as good as a modern bike. Just need to find a mechanic who actually knows their stuff and cares…this is where Taylor comes in. If you have a vintage Honda there is no where else to bring your bike. He’s the man and I could tell he definitely put in more hours than he billed because he wanted to do it all right. So big thanks Taylor. Will definitely be back!

Didn’t bother writing a review because I was rushed, just left a rating. Gonna fill it in now- came in and asked a few questions- didn’t find what I was looking for but felt super helped and welcomed.

For my money, Reliable Cycles is the top of the tops for vintage bikes in the Bay. A ton of knowledge and experience across makes and models, very high quality work performed, a clear passion for getting old bikes running like new, and a really enjoyable and professional experience working with Taylor and Candace, the shop's owners. 10/10 would recommend to any vintage rider. ______ Som more detail --- like a lot of hobbyists, I try to do most of the maintenance and projects on my bike myself, but in reality I'm a crummy mechanic and when I hit a wall on a couple different projects that I just couldn't figure out, I decided to call in a pro. In my case it was a few different electrical problems affecting my headlight, turn signals, and horn, and a pain of a front brake issue that I'd failed to resolve after a few different tries. Taylor was able to get my bike in right away, and took on the project with ease. Intake was smooth, repairs were quick and complete, and communication along the way was clear and thorough -- lots of texts/pictures/videos during the maintenance so that I could follow along, understand the issues, make decisions about the work being performed, and even learn a thing or two, which was extra valuable. Taylor also completed a nice general assessment of my bike and gave it a much-needed tune-up too, leaving me with a some notes for future projects, a few things to keep an eye on, and an overall clean bill of health -- a valuable thing to have for a rusty old steed like mine. Again -- can't recommend Reliable enough, for any job on any old bike, and I'll definitely be using them as my go-to shop going forward. Big thanks again to Taylor and Candace for getting me back on the road -- see you guys out there!

I hit up Taylor after purchasing my first vintage Honda because it had a leak and it wasn't running too great. I called other motorcycle shops and no one really seemed to have any interest in taking in vintage bikes. I'm an absolute noob when it comes to working on motorcycles and Taylor came through with the knowledge and expertise to get my bike running it's best. Having someone with deep knowledge of vintage bikes was the major reason I chose to go to him. After getting my bike back I could tell it was a whole different bike, night and day in how it ran and sounded. Any questions I had after he was always quick to respond and didn't judge me for being a complete amateur haha. If you have a vintage bike and are in the Bay Area talk to Taylor first. I'm so glad I brought my bike to him and I will absolutely be taking it back if I ever run into any future issues.

I took my 1966 cl160 for an overhaul. Taylor rebuilt the carbs and petcock and combed over the whole bike. He set the timing, fixed the electrical system, checked the breaks. The guys knows his vintage bikes. He’s a cool guy too. Highly recommended.

If you have a classic motorcycle in need of service and/or repair, ya gotta give this dude a go, especially if you're stuck and have limited knowledge like me. My '70 CL350 had what appeared to be a bad cylinder, compression tested R-105psi and L-155psi, basically ran horrible, I was told by PO that it needed a top end rebuild, I came across Reliable Cycles on Instagram, DM'd for some help and made an appointment...As soon as the bike was offloaded Taylor jumped on it and started troubleshooting, within minutes he showed me that the points were totally wrong, I left the bike, thinking, dude appeared to know his stuff. Well, true to that thought...what came after was frequent text messages of the issues he was finding along with pictures. What became obvious to me was this dude has a passion for these old bikes that's coupled with a extensive knowledge...as he dove deeper he kept me abreast on the handful of discoveries, which included, faulty battery, carburetors in need of refresh, wrong heat shield, timing being way off, electrical connectors needing repair, half-baked JB welded exhaust stud, and educated me along the way, including why these earlier CL Hondas are the years to have, "fat-cam" bikes...all of his discoveries were correctly repaired with his attention to detail and desire to use NOS parts when available, not Amazon knock-offs. As it turned out there wasn't any compression issues and he avoided the top-end rebuild. pic shows 170psi to confirm. The bike F-ing rips!! starts and still runs super strong. I'm not sure other shops would go to the level of care Taylor did for my 70's era machine. He displayed great communication, shared extensive knowledge and passion for my bike. This dude's a nutty professor when it comes to these bikes, crazy knowledge, wasn't afraid to tell me my bike was way out of sorts, all services came with appropriate shop rate and parts cost, was more than a cheap tune-up, he did a lot to get her running correctly, all work was communicated and listed on invoice, payment was easy through Venmo, I will definitely use his services again in the future...Proper vintage motorcycle shop!!

If you have a vintage bike, Taylor is your mechanic. I would never trust my bike in anyone else’s hands. I’ve broken down far from him, but i still get towed to Taylor, even when another mechanic is right around the corner. Every time i bring the bike in, he recognizes the bike and it’s story. He remembers the particulars of my bike and how i like to ride it. he and i have tuned my 72 cb350k to perfection. Plus, he has taught me so much about how to maintain the bike on my own, whereas most mechanics just give you a call when the job is done. He provides photos and updates along the way. He is available to text or call and talk through problems. Taylor lives and breathes these bikes. Don’t make the mistake of putting your ride in anyone else’s hands.

Taylor is absolutely fantastic at what he does. He was very communicative and responsive before, during, and after the repair process. He also recommended someone to safely tow my bike to his shop. My 1971 Honda CB350 had been cold for awhile, and needed some tune-ups to get it going smoothly again. Throughout the repair process, Taylor sent me narrated videos explaining what he was finding, whether and why it needed repair or tune-up, and the different ways (at different costs) that we could choose to repair it. I actually learned some helpful info about the motorcycle's ins and outs and idiosyncrasies that I will be using in the future. Taylor waited for my input before doing any repairs or ordering any supplies the bike needed, which was really nice. Additionally, he's been quite helpful afterward- checking in to make sure everything is going well. All around a good guy and excellent at what he does with older motorcycles!

Taylor is hands down the only person I’ll ever trust my bike with again. I brought my CB400 to him for a carb rebuild. My carburetors are very tricky, but he tracked down the (many multiple) issues and took care of them. My bike now runs absolutely FLAWLESSLY. I’ve taken it many miles up and down HWY 1 along with more technical twisties, and the bike is consistently amazing. How he got my 42 year old pile of junk to run like this; I’ll never know. The guy is a carburetor wizard. His communication was top tier, and I never felt a single moment of regret of doubt about leaving my bike in his hands. This guy KNOWS what he’s doing. And if you know what you’re doing, then you know Taylor is the man you want working in your motorcycle.

Taylor runs a great shop. He's as knowledgeable as they come, clearly loves and cares about what he's doing, and is communicative and transparent throughout the whole process. I brought him my 1970 2 stroke Kawasaki which had a laundry list of issues big and small. Taylor walked me through everything that was wrong, explained it all clearly, and sent lots of videos as he was fixing things, explaining what he was doing and why. The quality of work is excellent, and you'll not find a better place to fix up a vintage bike.

This guy is great!!! I found Taylor through a friend and brought my 1970 ct90 in for what I thought was just going to be a carb cleaning, but he discovered the previous owner had done some pretty janky stuff to the electrical and that the carb wasn’t actually an issue. It didn’t take long to realize he knows a ton about older bikes of all sizes and loves sharing his knowledge; I had zero problem leaving my bike at his shop and knew it was in good hands. Taylor did a great job of keeping me posted with texts and videos throughout the entire process, especially as additional issues kept surfacing (this bike had been through a lot before I got it.) He made sure I knew the pros and cons of each problem and solution, and he let me decide what I wanted him to tackle and what to save for another time. I didn’t feel any pressure at all and I’m so glad I had him overhaul my entire electrical system. The bike purrs now and it starts up first kick most of the time, which is saying a lot for a 50 year old piece of equipment. After my experience at reliable cycles I referred my neighbor with his old trail bike and his is running great now too. Taylor was efficient, responsive and of course, reliable for both of us; even after having been sidelined by his own high speed accident! I can’t say enough about this guy and his shop; I won’t be going anywhere else.

This is the place to go for vintage bikes. Taylor is extremely experienced, detail oriented, and great at walking you through your repair process step-by-step. Taylor has brought my XT500 back to life through a carb rebuild, new tires, tune up, battery, and oil change. The bike really has never run better. - If you have an old motorcycle, I highly recommend Reliable Cycles.

Took my XT in for a full inspection. He ended up rebuilding and installing the orig carb. Great work. Called a few times because I was having problem w/ the mixture and figured he'd want to fine tune it. Response was "started with one kick when it was here". Whatever.....got a buddy to get it sorted. Also when we first started the bike at the shop some smoke came out of the front of the engine. He said it was probably just a small leak. Realized when I got home the header was only attached by one nut. Did a great job on the carb though. It's a beast now. Just needed quite a bit more fine tuning and when I ever asked if he'd take a look he acted like I was bothering him. Once I left the shop it was pretty clear he didn't want to deal with it anymore. He did get injured like a week later but by that time I had my own people looking at it. Was surprised because he's a pretty nice guy. Charlie vibes though.
