If I could leave 0 stars I would.Don’t go to SAWAYA AUTOMOTIVE . They will over charger you on oem parts, put the full blame on you when they snap studs and v band clamp and will force you to buy parts after they fail to buy the correct one 4 times in a row and charge you over 50% on Oem parts and gaskets. I took my car to them based off of a recommendation so that they can swap my exhaust manifold for a new one and to change a drain bolt. They told me that the car would be done that they and quoted me 745$ for 5 hours of work. No issues there, later that day I called them for an update and they told me that they snapped the 2 turbo studs on the FA20 turbo and they were only able to remove 1 of them and would have to send it to machine to remove the other broken stud. They quoted me 616$ more (4.4hr to remove and reinstall the turbo even though to swap the headers the turbo has to be removed) and I would have to wait till Monday as the machine shop is closed on the weekends, they also stated the would call me when they dropped off the turbo and how much the machine shop quoted the job. Monday comes around and they do not call me, I had to call them they said 150$ for the machine shop and the car would be done that day and they ran the bill to a total of 1700$ after I asked them what would the total with tax they would be( this is including labor parts ,which include new v band clamps, tax and the machine shop quote). I asked if they’re any way they could help me out as this was way outside my budget and they basically told me how grateful I should be that they’re not charging me 4 more hours (almost 500$ more) I called them later that they and asked if the car would be ready they said no because they received the wrong v band clamp for my EWG and the wrong studs for exhaust manifold, they then said the car should be ready Tuesday. Tuesday came and same story they ordered the wrong clamp for the second time and said the car would be ready Wednesday or Thursday. I called them Thursday and asked if the car was ready and same thing they ordered the wrong clamp and said they ordered a different set and it would be ready the next day on Friday. Friday came and I called them in the morning to check if the car would be ready and they said they had wrong clamps again. The part number for the clamps on etched into the clamps themselves are size specific to the wastegate ( which are marked with the size and generation) I sent them the part number ans they told me I would have to buy them myself and ship them to myself if I wanted the car to be done The v band clamp arrived today since I overnight shipped for 60$ which would’ve be unnecessary if they ordered the correct part on Monday when they released that they had to be a specific size. I arrive at the shop give them the clamps and get the final qoute and it’s 1802$ I look over everything and see that I’m still have the qoute for if they bought the v band clamps and that the oem header gaskets that they bought from Subaru which are 6.82$ are marked to 19.47$. The turbo to manifold gasket which are 19.22$ are marked up to 48.62$ I ask to speak to the owner and asked that if they were OEM parts, he said yes and I then asked why are they significantly more than what Subaru sells them for. His response was that he needs to make money off of parts so he adds a 20% market up on them. I tell him then why am i looking at 50% mark up across the board and if he can either not do the markup and just the 20% and tells me no the price is the price and after arguing he brought it down to either I pay 1770$ (just removed the tax) or I can wait to Monday to talk to him in person. Ignoring the fact that they were charging more than 20% mark up

The owner Tony is incredible. He has done so very much for me while terrible Allstate took over 30 days to prepare and ok an estimate for an ac unit. His team works diligently and and after hours sometimes. Tony himself has stayed past business hours to receive my car after an accident. He always makes things work despite my monetary constraints. He is the mechanic you are looking for bc everyone needs an honest and trustworthy mechanic. I promise you will thank me later ...

I'm a young woman so I always get worried about being overcharged/trying to have someone pull a fast one on me. Tony's was AMAZING. I originally just got an oil change- but then my battery had been loose and they offered to put holders on it at no additional charge (even though it did add more time/labor.) Service is amazing and very thorough, and front desk staff is so helpful and kind. I would DEFINITELY recommend Tonys to anyone who needs work on their car.

Outstanding Service at Tony's Lube and Tune I've had an incredible experience with Tony's Lube and Tune. Tony is extremely knowledgeable and professional, always taking the time to explain everything in detail. After moving from Philadelphia with our 2006 Subaru Outback, Tony and his team have consistently treated us like family. They've provided honest advice on what repairs are necessary and what can wait, considering our financial situation. Tony is prompt with diagnosing issues and getting the work done efficiently. He truly goes above and beyond for his customers. I'm sadly moving away, but I'll definitely miss the exceptional service at Tony's. Strangely enough, every time I've had a challenge with the car, I've always looked forward to paying Tony a visit!

Tony and his team are entirely trustworthy and completely interested in maintaining the safety and high-performing operation of your vehicle. I feel as though they are family. He has been so dedicated to my needs every time I’ve had to bring my car in. I almost feel as if I’m his only customer! When you’re using Tony, you’re taking advantage of literally years of automotive servicing excellence. Toni has worked on virtually every type of vehicle and can summon his knowledge at a moments notice. He’s a good explainer even on complicated issues. I can’t imagine taking my car to anyone else. Every time I visit I leave with a feeling of knowing I have received the best service at the best price and that he cares for my car as much as I do! He had gone way above what a normal automotive shop would do and has saved me many thousands of dollars over the years. Tony’s service is personal, professional and outstanding. I can’t ever think of going back to a corporate owned mechanic shop.

Highly recommend going to see Tony for any car issues! I’m not originally from San Diego, but a coworker had recommended the shop to me and I have had nothing but good experiences here. He is always upfront about pricing and quicker than I could’ve even hoped for. As a woman, it’s always nice to find a mechanic that you’re comfortable with and can trust!

I can’t express in words how amazing Tony and his team are. I bought a camper van recently, and 2 mechanics didn’t even realize it had a blown head gasket! The check engine light was also on for another reason. I took it to 3 mechanics who weren’t competent enough to find the issue, until I finally took it to Tony. I don’t even want to think of the amount of money I would have saved if I just went to Tony first. Him and his team quickly found the issue, and due to multiple referrals, I trusted him and his team to do the engine rebuild, and I couldn’t be more happy about how it runs. The check engine still came on, and after having the van for a couple more days, Steven, one of the mechanics, found the issue without just throwing parts at it. All of the other mechanics I have dealt with can change parts, but Tony and his team are true mechanics who can diagnose an issue well, with your wallet in mind. I will never take this van to another mechanic.

I got a flat tire on the highway and barely pulled to his shop, apparently they don’t do tires but still offered to pump it up so I could drive to the tire shops near by. He didn’t ask for any pay and rejected the cash I offered. Without a doubt it’s one of the most wholesome experiences in this kind of situation

I was about to do an oil change on my own car when I discover that my oil drain plug was messed up. The dealership was the last one to touch my car and my oil drain plug bolt head was rounded out and over torqued. I called Tony and he picked up and told me to come on over. He’s the nicest mechanic I’ve ever had the pleasure of speaking with. I told him the situation and he assured me he was going to take care of it. He oversaw all of it and finished the job when the other mechanics had gone on break (assuming). Ordered a new bolt, it was delivered super fast, and got my car out as quick as possible. I also was not belittled or talked down to; like I have been in almost every shop due to being a female. Priced fairly, friendly, knowledgeable, and just overall fantastic. Thank you Tony for being kind and compassionate. Will definitely be coming back for any future automotive work.

I brought my car for e-tune to fix engine errors (overboosting). I paid for the diagnostics ($150) and then for the e-tune ($850), I was assured that all the issues would be fixed. Car repairs took almost two weeks instead of one promised. The shop poorly responded to calls and texts. After 2 weeks I Came to pick up my car and before the test drive and inspection employee charged me for the services assuming that my car is fixed. After paying for the services I went to check if everything was okay, and on a test drive it turned out that the problem was not fixed. After 30 minutes of arguing ! I left the car for further troubleshooting. In 3 days after that I did not get any update on the car (they had no time to check it) so I had to took the car back coz no one was going to work on it. As a result, I still have the same problem with the car, but I was charged $1k. Never thought that I could be scammed at a place with plenty of good reviews. Please make a research on a company before bringing your car for major repairs or performance upgrades. I got a disgusting experience here please make sure that you won’t appear in a same situation with Tony’s lube and tune

Just had my Air Conditioning diagnosed and repaired on a Dodge Diesel 2500 truck. Tony walked me through the issue and like always professionally repaired my truck. My wife and I also own a Lexus have been extremely happy with this shops service on our vehicles for over 15 years now. Tony and his crew recently moved locations, to a bigger and more convenient location off the 163. If you need your car fixed or tuned. This is the place to do it. Honest people that work hard and do a great job. The turnover is fast and they do a great job of communicating. I've been doing businesses with these guys for over 10years and they always blow my mind with the quality of their services. Definitely value these guys. Highly recommend.

Based on a recommendation, we took our recent used car purchase to be evaluated as well as to diagnose symptoms of stalls, rough idle, and flickering oil light. Tony listened attentively and captured all concerns in the write up even though the computer was down at the time we dropped it off. After a road test, Tony gave us an honest assessment of the vehicle and what needed to be fixed. Needed repairs, and possible problems that could arise during the work, were well explained and estimated. Work was completed in the given time frame and now the car runs great. Excellent experience with an honest mechanic. Thanks Tony and crew!

I had my break pads and rotors replaced here, Tony was a pleasure to work with! He was very helpful, easy to approach and explained everything that was going on. He’s also very transparent with the parts he uses and how he goes about the job. Highly recommend this place especially if you don’t know much about vehicle maintenance. In addition Tony’s prices were very fair in comparison to what I could get at a local dealership or big chain auto shop. Tony will guarantee you the best parts and won’t cheap out. Couldn’t recommend enough!

Tony is the best & most honest mechanic I have ever been to. I have had all of the family vehicles serviced by him for over 10 years & he always treats me like family. Many family members also bring their cars and refer friends. I never hesitate to refer anyone to him and everyone raves about what a good job he does. I wish he had a bigger lot because he is always super busy, but he also always manages to squeeze you in & take care of you. He can diagnose any issues and he never up-sells you anything you do not need. Awesome guy! Quick oil changes w appointment! More parking room. Call for an appointment.
