Alex and his crew are amazing working on German and diesel vehicles. We have a diesel Mercedes SUV and bring it across the state to have SDF work on it. We've tried other shops, and we never get the quality or knowledge that this crew has.

Scheduled them to look at an Audi I recently purchased. When I got there on my appointment day they acted like I wasn't scheduled. Several hours later they charged $500 to tell me what was wrong with the car. Went to an Audi dealership a couple months later to find out I didn't have any of the problems they said and had a couple of different ones. Go somewhere else.

I've always taken my car to the dealer for repairs and service. I won't be taking it back to the dealer ever again! They fixed a fuel issue I had and did an oil change all for a very reasonable price. Alex was kind enough to drive all the way to Lennox to pick me up when it was finished because I didn't have a ride. Above and beyond in customer service and they know their stuff!

I brought my Audi here because my headlights were not working. they had my car for a week and tell me it is done and that the headlights were working. I go to pick it up and they charged me and one of the headlights wasn't working still. So i tell them this and they look at it and tell me the bulb is missing. I mean seriously. So obviously they didn't even look. They then tell me that i can just take it home and put it in myself. PROFESSIONAL MECHANICS COULD NOT APPARENTLY SEE THERE WAS NO HEADLIGHT. unbelievable. waste of time and money and then i have to do the work myself on top of that. shameful to charge someone when the job wasnt done. i would frankly go lower than one star if i could. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!

We were on a family vacation 700 miles from home and had some fuel line issues with our MB sprinter van. We contacted SFD at 4:55 pm and even though they were about to close, they stayed late to fix our vehicle and get us back on the road that same day! I’m so grateful for their willingness to help and their professionalism. Just a great company that still puts the customer first. Highly recommended!

I don't do a lot of reviews, but Alex was amazing! Helped us in an emergency situation and went above and beyond to get us back on the road. Incredibly knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend him! Great guy, great service.

As a German auto enthusiast, it has been very nice taking my cars to SFD German Auto Works. They first listen to your thoughts and concerns about what is going on and help you navigate with their expertise. They're more of an auto service partner than just a transactional mechanic (they can be that if you want that, but they'll treat you right).

I recommend SFD to anyone who has an import especially those with a turbo diesel requiring engine servicing and repair. They have diagnostic, mechanical, and technical expertise to correctly pinpoint and resolve issues. A professional, courteous, and quality oriented business that has serviced my ‘04 TDI going on 300k miles strong.

Alex is a honest mechanic and does great work. I wouldn't hesitate to take my vehicle to him. Had a Tdi engine replacement done. Quality work at reasonable rates.👍👍

Alex and his team really helped me out of a bind. We were traveling through South Dakota in my BMW 550i and had an ignition coil go out due to a bad spark plug, and also needed brake pads (I waited too long to replace them and was down to nothing in the back) and rotors. The BMW dealership was booked out a full week and no one else in town had the parts or know-how to get us back on the road quickly. He moved his schedule around and was able to get us in the next day, and had us back on the road after one day - he did have to order some parts but was able to source them quickly. I watched one of his guys start the work because we wanted to confirm the ignition coil theory. He had the engine apart and spark plug out within about 5 minutes and looked like he could have done it blindfolded. The engine on this car is awkward to work with as it's a huge V8 in a pretty small compartment. He walked out of the garage with the exact tools he needed for each step and flew through the job, and the spark plug he pulled out was indeed completely fried. In their final inspection, they noticed that I had a cracked driveshaft flex disk. He advised that I could drive the rest of the way home to Minneapolis with it, then showed me the exact part I needed and recommended a reputable BMW mechanic he knows here. There was never any pressure to increase the scope of the job and he explained everything that got done very clearly. I wish I had a relationship with a mechanic like this at home and I'm hopeful that his recommendation works out.

Brought my 2013 TDI in for timing belt and water pump replacement and they were quick in getting it done and did a great job at that. I also had issues with my emissions equipment and they cleared the codes at no cost and it’s been running better since. Alex communicated with me throughout the process with updates and have great rates. I will be returning for work in the future.

I brought my Mercedes’ in that was having issues with cold starts and constant stalling. They figured out the problem immediately and got the car back to me as soon as possible. These guys have great communication, giving you status updates on what’s going on. Overall A+ company and pricing isn’t to much. I highly recommend to any other Mercedes’ owner.

Moving to a new city always is difficult when trying to find that perfect person to work on your vehicle. I have a 2006 BMW Z4 convertible that I have owned from the beginning. Being 16 yrs old things need to be fixed on it every now and then. I found Alex here and he has been the best. I'm so pleased with his workmanship. As long as I live here I will be having Alex do all the repairs needed. The perfect place for foreign car repairs.

We were heading west in our 2003 Eurovan Weekender from NC for our family vacation. Alex got right back to us and told us to drive in. He checked out our transmission, and had it fixed within 24 hours. Great service, very friendly and accommodating.

Alex is great and his work with german automobiles is greatly appreciated. He has been keeping my 2001 Volkswagen Passat running for at least 5 years now. As a small shop, Alex is able to explain what's wrong and what needs to be fixed in a way the average german car owner can understand.

I have a Sprinter van. So when I broke down in the middle of nowhere in South Dakota, I looked up the closest place that would make sense to send it to. Well, since it turned out to be an engine failure, it took a while between me procuring a reman engine and him having other customer projects. However, Alex is very knowledgeable with German diesels, and was able to work his way through the engine replacement. Since I was not able to be physically present in Sioux Falls, I requested frequent updates from him. Even when there were some hiccups, he communicated everything transparently and kept the costs fair (even though engine replacements aren't cheap). I recommend him to anyone with a German auto.

Terrible, horrible experience with them. Please go through all the negative reviews because the negative one are real. I took in my bmw to have timing chain in mid August, I got it back tonight 6 December. The first two months, they said because they were busy, which was ok for me. So I decided to drive my car back first but they insisted to work on it and promised to finish in a week. Unfortunately, they installed it backward and broke my car. He claimed they broke it because he asked a new guy to do it. I definitely could tell they are not familiar with bmw. It was their first time to do this job. Well, they promised me they could fix everything they broke in one month. They said they fix it for free. It sound like they were doing charity but they just cleaned up their mess. They didn’t even feel sorry to cause my inconvenience. It sounded they were the victim but not the customer’s. What is more, unfortunately, but I was not surprised they didn’t keep their words to fix it by 12 November. During November, my backup car didn’t work anymore. I didn’t remember how many time I asked them what time I can have my car back. Plus, I didn’t mention my car was in their messy parking lot for a few months, I am so sure my car mirror got hit and got scratches. Tonight, I got my car eventually. What a release. I didn’t want to face such shameless and unprofessional people. Their work ethics are terrible. They do their job when they feel like doing it. I can feel a toxic relationship between this shop and customer. Last but not least, their price they asked for is no much different from the bmw dealership. They seem nice at the beginning, but I regret the whole time choosing them. It was my worst thing happened in 2021 for me.
