I've been dealing with Smyth Imports for a long time now and have never been at all disappointed. I can't say enough about Mr. Smyth. I called in today with a pretty complex issue on my Land Rover Discovery. While he wasn't able to help me directly, he actually spent a full half hour on the phone with me educating me about the issue. Giving me advice of where to go for assistance and genuinely cared about my situation. You simply do not find service and care like this anymore. Today's society is such a turn and burn quick serv market that no one wants to take the time to be helpful anymore. It was a refreshing change of pace to speak with Sam and see just how much he did care. I'm extremely grateful for the advice he gave me and plan to use his services in the future for any issues that may arise with my car.

I have a 2013 Bentley Continental GTC convertible. Check engine came on and Sam and Patrick took me without an appointment and repaired the light and replaced batteries and charger. Also Sam gave me the part number to order a grille and was excellent in his knowledge and service of Bentleys. SAM IS THE MAN!!! I will never take my car anywhere else ! Customer for life!

I absolutely recommend seeing Sam for anything you’d need on a classic import. I had questions and concerns about my 1965 MG 1300, and Sam not only answered my questions, but also taught me more about my car than any amount of googling could. Top notch service and advice, and an absolute wealth of knowledge. 100% recommendation for sure!

Sam went out of his way to not only fit us into his busy schedule, but also to help us out financially throughout the process. He made sure to recommend only necessary items and did the work at an extremely reasonable rate. He also has taken quite a bit of time out just to discuss the car with me to make sure that I was knowledgeable about what was going on. He and his son Patrick are kind and great to work with!

Trustworthy, honest and a wealth of knowledge! Sam is not you’re ordinary mechanic. He’s straight forward and to the point. He’s gonna tell you up front the real issue and price and not just string you along like my previous mechanic has. I called in to schedule a time to have my 2009 BMW 328i x-drive looked. I left that call learning more about my car than I ever knew. He was spot on. Sam had never even seen my car and just by listening to me explain the issues I was having, he was able to diagnose the problem. Sam has saved me a lot of money just by being upfront and honest. I greatly appreciate him. I highly recommend you use Sam Smyth as your mechanic. Your just wasting money if you go anywhere else.

Finally purchased a long-time dream car of mine, an Aston Martin DB9 convertible. With no dealer in the vicinity I took it to Smyth Imported Car Service for some routine maintenance and check-out, having used them for service on several sports cars in my earlier lifetime. I'm extremely happy to report that the upcoming generation, Patrick Smyth, provided the same great service as I had always experienced. He is a professional and extremely devoted to his work, paying exceptional attention to detail. I called Sam to make an appointment to diagnose my BMW X5. After telling him what was happening with my car, he diagnosed it over the phone. (The problem was that after sitting, the car was taking longer to start. Issue sticky check valve located at the fuel pump). Now it starts from cold after sitting for a few days very fast. We ended up taking for about 20 min. He didn't want to charge me for the diagnosis. Highly recommended 👌.

I had an electrical issue on my '06 Aston Martin DB9. As I'm new to the area I found Sam Smyth online. Based on the great reviews I took the car there. Patrick fixed the issue and the car is as new again. Sam Smyth and son, Patrick, are both very knowledgeable when it comes to exotic/older cars. Highly recommend them and will have the car serviced there going forward!

Sam Smyth diagnosed the problem with the starter from my 1978 Alfa Romeo Spider. I arrived without an appointment. Sam had the problem diagnosed within 30 minutes and i was on my way with a plan from Sam to get the starter functioning. Thanks Sam ! You are the best !

HONEST AND TRUSTWORTHY!!! I recently purchased a 2016 Audi Q5 3.0T Premium Plus S-Line with 74,000+ miles from a Local Dealership. I initially encountered issues with pricing and some other integrity issues related to their business practices. This is a dealership that is on every side of town and across state lines in IN and KY. I had looked for weeks to find this Audi. I drove over to KY and performed a test drive…CARFAX was clean, One owner, etc. I was informed that the safety inspection was completed. I then had the car transferred to the local OH dealership, purchased, and took delivery. One concern I had was that the “safety inspection” had not been performed. There were no signs that the engine compartment had been touched, as it was still quite dirty from their June possession date of trade-in. Sooo…the day after I took delivery of the vehicle, the “Add a quart of oil” yellow warning light illuminated. I had had driven the vehicle app. 60 miles. When the “eggs are cheaper in the country” dealership promised to perform an additional safety inspection, clean the engine compartment, and a list of other concerns that clearly indicated that IF an inspection had been performed, these things were “missed”. To address the “add oil” warning, they performed an oil and filter change, placed a sticker on the windshield for the next oil change due in 01/23. All was good? NOPE…driving a few hundred miles later, the “add oil” warning light came on again. Being extremely concerned at this point, I called Smyth Imported Car Service, Inc and described my situation. Even though they had no available appointments, they told me to bring the Audi to them and they would take a look to see if they could resolve my issue. Not only did they find the problem, they fixed it and I was on my way! The problem… THE OIL AND FILTER WAS BLACK AS COAL..obviously had not been changed a couple weeks ago! I witnessed the color of the oil being drained from my car, as well as the filter that was removed! (See photos) What I am expressing is not only did Smyth go above and beyond WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE to get my car in immediately, but they were able to show what it means to be in the hands of an HONEST BUSINESS! They have kept in touch with me the last couple of days to make sure I was no longer getting the warning light! I have not! I not only have a peace of mind with my recent investment, I have found a trustworthy place to take my vehicle for service. This is a RARE find! Who would think that something like an OIL CHANGE would be in question? Thank YOU Sam and Patrick for your kindness and expertise and caring to take the time to help me when I had no other options…not even the Audi dealership.

I Highly recommend Sam Smyth. I went looking for someone to do the body restoration of my 1964 Austin Mini and found Smyth Imports among a very short list of local shops. I made an appointment over the phone Mr. Smyth, and sent him preliminary photos of the car. Although the engine was out and he could not see it in person, he spent a good hour talking through a variety of options with me at his shop. He showed me examples of his work in progress, his methods, and helped me with ideas for pricing at various levels of restoration. Ultimately, he recommended another shop he felt would better suit my needs and budget. He recommended the towing service he uses for his business, as well as services for glass removal. Even though I am in the process of negotiating work with another shop, he offered to be available if I have any questions throughout the process, and even offered to come look at the car if I had concerns with the work. I went in looking for advice and walked away with a solid plan, thanks to the generosity of his time and his enthusiasm for the project and these little cars.

I regret that I have not written this review earlier. Sam Smyth is the BEST! I purchased a 1973 MGB and immediately took it to Sam Smyth to check it out from top to bottom. Well, it needed a ton of work to say the least. Total rewiring, new fuel pump, fuel line, complete exhaust, new gas tank, new carbs. New about everything you name it, it was worked on (Sam, feel free to comment on this and add everything). Sam was great at communicating to me about his work, and was very patient with me as I would drop in to see his progress. It is very rare to find someone so passionate about his work. I will only trust Sam to work on my MGB. I will happily continue to use him again, and recommend everyone to trust this man with the work!

Restoring my 1972 MGB. It’s been quite the process, but Sam has been great to work with, professional, extremely knowledgeable, honest (hard to find in this industry) and a pleasure to deal with. Give yourself some extra time for your visits because he knows his stuff and has stories to go along with it. Always a pleasure. He sends me update pictures in detail of the work on a regular basis, being I now reside in Florida. With work being almost complete and in the home stretch, I can honestly say, I will never take a classic car to another shop. The MGB looks amazing and runs like a gem. I bought a 1975 TR6 and took it to Sam for inspection. Sam was very thorough and pointed out some "short term items" and "longer term items" for maintenance to address. He was very reasonable on items that I could afford now vs future and as a family shop, himself, his son and his wife have a passion for older cars.

PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTIONS: We trusted Sam to inspect a pre-owned 2008 BMW i series we were considering purchasing 6 years ago. He gave it an all-clear and it's been a very dependable vehicle! In April 2021 we asked Sam to inspect a pre-owned 2018 Subaru Forester and after he inspected some key parts advised us NOT to buy the car. We found out later the car had multiple problems that were documented at a dealer but never repaired. Sam then inspected and approved a pre-owned 2017 Toyota Rav4, which has been trouble-free. Thanks to Sam we avoided the problems, frustrations, and EXPENSES of an unreliable pre-owned vehicle. Highly recommended!

Mr. Smyth is a knowledgeable professional. I took my Bently Flying Spur to him and there aren't many Bently authorized shops in the city who are knowledgeable to work on this type of car. Mr. Smyth and his team knew what to do. He was fair with his pricing and knew exactly what needed to be done. Dare I say he knew more than the authorized Bently dealerships in Columbus, Zionsville, and Cleveland. They gave me the runaround and would not help me. His customer service was top notch. The price is what the price is because this is a high end car, but he was more than fair. I enjoyed doing business with him, I appreciate his honesty and he is the only mechanic to ever call me back several times to see if the car was working correctly. I really appreciated that. I won't take my car anywhere else. Thanks.
