I was visiting San Diego with my kids when my car’s brake pads needed urgent attention. Chuck not only fixed the problem quickly and professionally but also went out of his way to help us feel comfortable during the process. Knowing I had my kids with me, he generously offered us a ride back to our nearby hotel while he worked on the car. His kindness and thoughtfulness truly stood out and turned a stressful situation into a positive experience. Chuck is not just an excellent mechanic but also a genuinely caring person. I can’t thank him enough for his outstanding service. Highly recommended to anyone in need of car repairs in San Diego!

Chuck knows exactly 💯 👌 what he is doing. He is a man of his word. He was 100 percent accurate with my car. He replaced 8 spark plugs and 8 cylinder coils. Gave me an oil change too. Also, he serviced (tuned up) my car. My dad gave me 1 of his cars and the couple times the check engine light came on, he was able to diagnose, fix, and have it ready for me to take out for a night on the town. It was worth every single cent.

Chuck is an excellent mechanic. He helped me so much with an issue with my vehicle that turned out to be a dealer warranty issue. Even when I took the car to dealer he stuck with me and checked in on what was going on with the car the whole time. I got warranty issues resolved and brought the car back to him to replace battery cables and couple other things. Very communicative and gets the job done. I respect the way he does business and would recommend him to anyone looking for a good mechanic.

Came to Chuck at Southwest Auto Repair out of dire need after my car overheated not too far away. He's affordable, thorough, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. I got my car back at a lot less than I thought I would -- having prior maintenance done almost exclusively through big brand mechanic companies. Since then, he's been my go-to guy for anything auto-related. I drive my car a lot, and every time I bring it over to him he gets to the root of the issue quickly and it comes out to be less than those big brand companies. I can wholeheartedly recommend Chuck with Southwest Auto Repair.

Chuck is great...very helpful and straightforward. It was the only place that was able to fix the electrical issues (ignition failure sensor and tachometer) on my old '04 Hyundai. Our second car is back to running well now. Thanks.

My sunroof was repaired quickly, professionally and most importantly affordable, because some jerk decided to jam a blow-pop like, round white paper type of stick in it. Plus, Chuck is all around a genuine person and gave me a good referral for some other work I was interested in having done to my vehicle. It pays to go off the beaten path.

Stopped by after lunch without an appointment and these guys took care of me right way with friendly, knowledgeable service. This a local, honest, family owned business with lots of experience and practical knowledge at rates that are very reasonable. The running lights on my car were constantly blowing their fuse and they discussed with me what they were doing the whole time as I watched them take my car apart to investigate. They found the issue in about 15 minutes and I was on my way. I highly recommend Southwest Auto Repair & Electric if you need electric work done on your car.

Fair Prices, Great experience. I visit Southwest Auto regularly for oil change and service and also when I first bought the car it had transmission leak which was fixed easily by them. Honestly it's a great experience with one of the best local mechanics.

Very happy about the work they did on my car. I went in to fix a panoramic sunroof on a Volkswagen, this is a very challenging task based on the feedback I got from the car dealership. Most places I called in San Diego did not even want to do it because they were not confident they can handle it. When I called Chuck he looked into it in detail and gave me an estimate on the repair needed. Very professional. The work was done with highest quality and at a fraction of the cost dealership was asking. He also repaired gas pump lid which had come off, it was done very well such that it won't fall off again and the finish of coloring it and making it look smooth very much appreciated! He also handled an engine oil leak on this car, he quickly identified the problem and did what was necessary at the time without going overboard and replacing lots of unnecessary parts. They are honest and professional in their work, and very reasonable in the cost. Best car repair spot I found so far in San Diego.

Brought my 2010 Mini Cooper S in for a diagnostic of an electrical that was causing the fuel pump to run constantly. I'll be honest, it's a hole-in-the-wall shop that didn't immediately inspire confidence, but I was totally wrong! Turned out that it wasn't a major problem with anything I expected (engine computer, fuel pump), but Chuck diagnosed it as meddling in the electrical system by a previous owner. And he fixed the problem for no additional cost over the diagnostic fee. Car was back on the road in one day for minimal cost, and still running fine after 10 days. Thank you Chuck, you are awesome!

I can’t even begin to explain how happy I am that I chose this place to go to! My sunroof was broken, part of the track was tore off and I called multiple places asking if they worked on sunroofs and some did, but as soon as I told them part of it involved the track they immediately said “oh we won’t be able to fix that here, you’ll have to get a whole new sunroof and you’ll have to call American Sunroof.” I called there and the labor alone was an outrageous price, along with the sunroof . But they instantly said they would have to replace mine with a new sunroof. No one wanted to deal with “fixing it” and looking into things. So I called Southwest Auto Repair and Electric and Chuck answered and told me to come in and he would take a look and try to fix it. He never once said that I’d have to get a whole new sunroof. Chuck really wanted to help me out and try and find the parts needed to replace the broken track . He looked at my car for free and said he was going to try and find the parts then call me. He called me later the next day and found one that matched my car. A lot of places didn’t have the parts for it but he kept searching until he found the correct parts. He quoted me wayyyy less than the other places did, he was really reasonable ! My sunroof is like brand new again! Not only did he fix my sunroof, he also fixed a lock problem on my car. Which again, not many places could figure out what was going on with my locks , because my remote and automatic locks to my car wouldn’t work. Chuck took a look at it and figured out the problem immediately and also fixed it for a reasonable price! This is NOT the kind of place that will rip you off. Chuck definitely cares, puts effort into it, and takes the time to get the job done correctly . He did a great job! I am definitely going to go back to Southwest Auto Repair and Electric!

I had a bad wire that needed to be replaced and charged me a reasonable price compared to other shops. He's honest, does real good work, and provided great customer satisfaction. I would recommend him if you had a faulty wire.

HONEST Under lower than Prices of the Dealerships Chuck told me that my Ford Escort would cost $700 to repair. BUT Chuck said it would cost a lot more down the road. He told me to buy a new car. He could have made a lot of money. But Chuck is one of the few mechanics that is honest. Pick and deliver. You don't have to wait for service. Chuck picks it up. He delivers and you pay him on the spot.
