Brought car in with dashboard displaying all warning lights. After 18 days of being at their shop, numerous calls back and forth - they call me back stating it was ready. Pick it up and pay them $2,700+ cash for their ‘service’. Drive it a mile home. Next day, not even a mile down the road, all lights back on. Take it back to them. Mechanic calls me and states, “thinking ABS, know we mentioned it. Didn’t want it to be that, but going to be another $1,500.” Next day - I decide to get it towed to Mungenast on Lindbergh instead of staying here. Mungenast fixes my car for $1,588 and has me back in it in 24 hours (cylinder 1 & 4; hose was undone) Call this establishment asking for some $$ back from the labor part of the $2,700 bill ($1,200 in parts; $1,500 in labor). Say I understand you guys put new parts in my car (clearly did not need them per Mungenast) and don’t want you taking them out for more money - so can we discuss me getting some of my $$ back from the labor side of the bill as you did not fix my car which was evident in the fact that my car was still in their shop with the same problems as Day 1. Clerk says, “We fixed problems we saw with your car by putting these parts in.” If that were the case, why on Day 18 did I have the same issues with my car that I did on Day 1 of bringing it in after paying $2,700? Why could Mungenast fix my car in 24 hours and you guys couldn’t? They did not want to hear it. Live in the neighborhood myself - like me, give this place a try if you want to give back. If they come calling after saying they found ‘other’ issues, don’t stay - take to your local dealership. This review is simply to make the community aware as Small Businesses are known for taking care of their own and providing exceptional service… This simply was not the case and was very disappointed in paying $2,700 for literally nothing. Shameful.

This place is a neighborhood gem! Melissa is honest and I believe she truly wants to help people get the service they need at the most reasonable price. Her explanations are detailed and as even though I don't know very much about automotive repair, she breaks it down in a way that makes sense. As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I'm thankful to have this establishment. They have an old school sense of customer service that goes above and beyond. One thing to know is that they are busy (because they're awesome) so you will want to make an appointment for routine maintenance. That being said, they've been honest, flexible, and accommodating any time I've needed to add on for more than the routine appointment.

As a shade tree mechanic myself, these folks are the ones I trust when I can't or don't want to do something myself. Their work is top notch, they have pretty flexible scheduling, and the prices are a steal for as fast they complete the work. You won't regret trusting them.

I started coming to St. Louis Hills Auto for simple oil changes, but I started using them for everything. They are a really stand up crew, they're not going to waste your time or money. They'll give you the best solution and get you the best possible price. I don't trust a lot of auto shops but they won me over!

I took my used car here before I started buying new cars. As a woman this place is one of the only auto spots I would recommend. Friendly service, no pushing random car services on you. Just genuine service from car lovers.

Very friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff. Really fair and honest prices and not one single extra repair or any more work pushed. In and out in 30 min. I know I’ll be making this my regular place and I suggest anyone reading this do the same.

I tried this place on the recommendation of a friend, and am pleasently surprised! They made some repairs that other very respected mechanics missed, and did other repairs VERY reasonably priced. Small shop, but the girl on the front desk takes VERY good care of you. I recieved a number of phone calls updating me on where they were with my repairs. VERY impressed so far....

Once again coming here to shout from the rooftops how great STL Hills Auto is. Michelle & Eric are so honest -- Michelle walks me through everything & they typically tell me why I don't need to replace something/when I should expect to do that. They aren't trying to upsell me or take advantage. This is the mechanic you need & I send all of my friends & family to them. I truly wish I could give them more stars.

Outstanding hospitality and integrity! I've been going to them for a whole family of cars for a couple of years now. Michelle is an excellent communicator who knows her stuff and knows how to translate it all for laypeople like me. She is always clear and thorough, and gives me options for what kind of work could be done to address the issue (including pros and cons and risks and estimates for each option). She is clearly well organized, and it shows. Eric is a competent mechanic who has literally taken me into my car to show me how to manage an issue too expensive to resolve, and under my car to show me what the issue is and is not. St. Louis Hills Auto's human touch is unmatched among any mechanic I've ever been to, and I will keep going to them as long as that virtue persists.

The reason that I will not return: St Louis Hills Auto suggested that I replace expensive parts, while two other places told me the parts were fine and did not need replacement. The work has been timely in the past, but apparently their quotes need doublechecking

This time I didn't need anything, just went for a motorcycle safety inspection. but when I do need vehicle repairs, this is where I go.
