Jesse was highly recommended by our friend (and great handyman), and I called and asked if they could install the replacement engine shields I had purchased for my car. His assistant said they could, and I drove their this morning, and Jesse told me which bay to enter with my car. He did the job while I waited, and in 20 minutes it was done, and at a very reasonable price. As has been mentioned, the waiting room doesn't have A/C, but it does have shade and free wi-fi. I was happy to wait the short time it took to install my replacement shields and send me on my way. I am very glad to have found this capable, honest, and fair mechanic. Update (Nov. 27, 2024) Yesterday, we dropped our vehicle off at Jesse's new location, so that he could test drive it and try to find out why there was an intermittent "clicking noise coming from the right rear section of the car. When we returned a while later, Jesse had discovered a loose plastic part was causing the noise, and a couple of screws solved the problem. I cannot imagine how expensive it would have been to use the dealership, or any chain store to hunt for this issue, but Jesse saved us a lot of money, and time. He is also a pleasure to know.

Shoutout to Jesse, the cool cat running the show at Star Automotive! For a whopping 12 years, he's taken care of my Jeep, Maserati, Lexus, and Range Rover. Fast service, killer prices, and the friendliest crew in town. I'm hooked! Never gonna stray elsewhere for my automotive fix. Props to Jesse and the squad for keeping it real all these years! 🚗✨ Today, I asked him to check the brake job I did on my Jeep, and he was honest. He asked me 100 questions about how I did the job and identified what I could do better next time. He coached me on how to fix it. Anyone else would've taken advantage. He offered to help with advice so I could DIY it. Anyone else would've told me I messed up and quoted 1k like the guys down the street to fix my mistake. Thank goodness for an honest dude like Jesse!

**2nd UPDATE-9.30.23** PLEASE MAKE NOTE AND AVOID THIS BUSINESS!!! THEIR RESPONSE DID NOT ADDRESS THE FACT THAT THE MANAGER/OWNER LIED TO MY FACE ABOUT MY POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL!!! I EVEN HAD THE FLUID! I COULD BARELY STEER MY CAR. ***UPDATE*** DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE, I'VE HAD A REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE HERE!!! I went in last week because my power steering system was moaning and my car was hard to steer. I went into the office, and asked if they would check my power steering, and even had my own power steering fluid, but just couldn't reach the reservoir. I had to wait for a few minutes, which was totally fine. While waiting, I was getting something from the back of my car, and a man from the business, I think he is the owner or manager, approached and said that my power steering fluid was full. I didn't think he was right because my car was making the noise and hard to steer, so when my dad got back into town, I asked him to check the fluid level; when he checked it, there wasn't even any fluid on the dip stick!!! So, my point is that the man who claimed to check the fluid level for my power steering, BLATANLY lied to my face!!! And, they still haven't added AC!!! Get with the program people, this is Texas and the summer time! The people are nice, but need to get a public restroom. I have a handicap and had to cross the Anderson Ln to get to the nearest bathroom at a convenience store that was pretty disgusting. GET AC IN THE CUSTOMER WAITING AREA!

I recently had an unexpected issue with my car that I needed fixed quickly. While I have a car warranty, all of the approved vendors were not available. Star Automotive came highly recommended from a friend who is a car enthusiast. They were able to fit me in for a diagnostic and fixed it in 30 minutes. It was a minor fuse issue that no one else had even suggested (they all indicated it was a major and costly repair). The cost was also great!!! I would highly recommend Star Automotive. I will be going here in the future.

Let me tell y’all, I am so grateful for Jesse and his team! Earlier this year I bought a 71 Ranchero which I knew would need a bit of work to get road ready. Jesse is transparent, patient, and does a great job of balancing giving advice while also not making you feel like he’s selling you a service. Throughout the process he’d advise me to do my own research, and was always happy to discuss my findings and questions. I’ve recommended them to a few folks now, and if you’re looking for an honest and quality shop, you’ve found it!

Jesse was super helpful. Diagnosed the problem, called quite a few auto stores to find me the right battery and installed it. Their rates are affordable (that’s a big plus because I’m a student on a tight budget). I was pretty stressed but they’re very patient and helpful. 5 stars for the amazing service!

I moved here from El Paso and was nervous about finding a new mechanic after my car’s check engine light turned on. A coworker recommended a mechanic so I made my way there. I arrived at Star Automotive and asked for the mechanic by name. Jesse informed me I was at the wrong shop and gave me directions to the shop I was looking for. Embarrassed I apologized and asked how much a diagnostic fee would run for my car. He gave me a price and said he would wave the fee if the repairs were done on site! Sold!!! My car runs great and I continue to refer friends to Jesse!

I was headed to a business meeting about 45 minutes away and my "Add Coolant" light came on. I stopped at a gas station but no one could help me. So then I went next door to Star Automotive. The mechanic stopped the job he was working on to help me. He saved the day and also noticed I had an oil leak (I was driving my husband's old Saab that we rarely use). He filled the oil up and sent me on my way. I've used other mechanics around 2222/Lamar during my 10 years in the area, and I'm looking forward to going back to Star for the next service I need.

Friendly guys here. Wait was only 10 to 15 minutes. Came in for 4 tire rotations and wheel balance on driver side and gave me good price had that part done in about 10 minutes! Was so fast asked about back brake replacement so getting that done too. Referred by my friend Fred to come here and it was a good referral.

Star Automotive is a lifesaver -- literally. A week after taking my car to another shop for a brake job, I heard a noise followed by shaking and scratching in my rear brake. I was afraid that it wasn't safe to drive so I stopped at Star on a whim. Jesse immediately came to my car to look at what was wrong. He wasn't condescending or anything. He treated me with respect and explained that one of the bolts from my brakes had come off and the other one was loose. He checked both sides and replaced/tightened the bolts. He was extremely kind and did great work. If you want honest, good service, go to Star Automotive.
