The personnel at Steve's kept me informed throughout the repairs of my car. Estimate for maintenance was on target and finished on time. My vehicle was due for a 120k miles general maintenance. Car is running smoothly.

I had a very bad experience with other shops before going to Steve's Auto. My Ford Excursion needed a front alignment, but other shops failed to get it right. At Steve's Auto, they completed the job on time and even provided a shuttle service, which was great. This shop has a welcoming atmosphere and is staffed by the best people to take care of your car. I will definitely be returning for all my services. A special thank you to Norman at the front desk for his professionalism.

I was saved by this amazing Samaritan this morning when my car wouldn’t start at a gas station near by. Thank you for going out of your way to help me out. You have earned my business and someone with a such a kind heart that does this, I know for a fact has an outstanding business. If I could give you 100+ starts I would! I recommend this establishment 100%

Professional, friendly, efficient, honest. I thought I needed an additional service that was not needed. They told me it wasn’t needed and didn’t charge me. I am grateful.

I went to Steve’s Auto Repair and Tire for an emission test. The stuff was very friendly and did wait like 20 mins for the emission test to be done. The waiting room was clean and cozy! They also gave me thank you bag with candies together with my receipt- that was sweet! And before that I have checked other shop right next to it where the gas station is. I got there by mistake somehow, thinking that was the Steve’s Auto repair, I’m glad I did not pick that place at 1st place. I did not like the attitude in that shop. I’d recommend Steve’s Auto repair and Tire to ppl I know of if they ever ask.

Steve's always goes above and beyond at every visit. We wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

Brought my car in for oil change, coolant flush and state inspection. There was much to be fixed and including item for state inspection to pass. Instead of doing inspection first for $20 they did the other services which totaled $660. I was then informed of over $8000 worth of repair. I am trading this car in and would have been considerate to first let me know all the issues before doing the other work. Spent $660 on work I wouldn’t have had done. Will not use or recommend any future dates. Highly dissatisfied. Should have known when a family member said he was quoted $2000 for a head light when it was fixed for $500 at another location.

Excellent quality service one stop shop. I need to replace one tire on a utility trailer and I wanted the specific brand so they matched with all the same load and speed ratings not only were they able to find it the same day they had it mounted as soon as I got him the new rim and tiregreat service and a pleasure dealing with you Rich. I will use you guys again.

Great Service! I did not have to wait long for my inspection. Thank you Steve's Auto Repair.

I went to Steve’s Auto Repair for a second opinion. The first mechanic I went to quoted ~$3600 for repairs. Steve’s mechanics took a second look. They determined that some of the repairs that the first mechanic noted weren’t needed, which dropped the pricing down to ~$1100. I cannot thank the team enough for saving me from my panic when, what should’ve been, routine maintenance turned into a down payment for a car. You saved me over $2000 and I’m forever grateful.

Our tow vehicle, a 1990 Silverado broke down on I95 as we were heading back home to NJ with our travel trailer. The Steves auto shop worked overtime to fix vehicle so we able to bring it and our Airstream back home all in one shot. We only had to come back once from NJ with a new tow vehicle rather than have to return twice with a second vehicle to bring our Airstream and truck home. I can’t say enough about how helpful and understanding that they were, especially the general manager of the shop Rick who is a RVer himself. He was very generous with their time and expertise. They really went the extra mile to help us. We couldn’t be happier given the difficult situation.

Picking up my car with an used engine after three weeks was a godsend, and finished in perfect time. The team communicated well, and consistently throughout the process—and even helped me when I left, equipping me with enough information about my car that I left confident and excited to drive again. Thanks, Steve’s!

5 Star Service, Expertise and Professionalism. I stumbled on this business after the dealership wanted too much for a small repair. This is now my place for all my car maintenance and mechanics. Thank you for being good, honest people :)

I went to Steve's auto repair for some minor work and to get my states inspection on my car. I pass that inspection and they did not give me my sticker for my car.

I've been here a few times now and with 3 different cars and purposely waited to write a review because I wanted to gather data on this shop, their quality of workmanship, business ethic, and honesty; in terms of what they quote, the work they perform, and whether stand behind their work. Bottom line up front: they have passed on all accounts thus far and I can honestly and gladly give them a 5 star rating. If you're looking for a new mechanic shop or are in a pinch and need quality work done, you can go here and you won't be wronged. Read below for more details of my experience for those of who prefer more data to make your informed decisions. I've taken 3 of my vehicles to this shop, each of different years, makes, and models: a Lexus ES, Subaru Forester, and a Dodge Caliber. On my Lexus I needed a mirror assembly installed and while they don't normally install aftermarket parts sourced by the customer, they did me a solid because it was a genuine Lexus part and I needed it in a bind. The part has worked flawless and I've experienced no issues from it thus far (it's been ~6 months.). This was a good test of the quality of their workmanship because this mirror is loaded with sensors and electrical hookups because of the blind spot monitor, heated and auto folding features. When I got the vehicle it was clean and everything was properly aligned with the lines of the body. I did notice some residual gunk around the mirror area from installation and removal of the original mirror that I had taped into place. Is it that a ding against them? Nope! It's annoying but nothing Goo-remover can't fix. Second is my Forester. I got a laundry list from the Subaru Dealership about what needed to be done and they gave me a ~$1800 bill. Although I don't normally trust that dealership and what they say, this time they weren't wrong because I could independently identify the problems on my own with my own tools and knowledge. But their prices were way too high and they were being wishy-washy about scheduling me. I emailed Steve's about the service I needed (front control arm, all 4 breaks and rotors) and asked for a quote. They gave me a nice detailed write up and provided a couple dollars off the realignment that was gonna be needed. Best part, they beat the dealership by like ~$300. I got my Forester back and noticed a knocking sound when going over speed bumps. I ignored it for a while due to my travel out of state. When I came back, my family had been using the same vehicle and told me they were experiencing it too. I reached out to Steve's and they asked me to bring the car in. I dropped it off in the morning, they thoroughly checked it and found they had forgotten to tighten the sway bar fully and it was the cause. They tightened it fully to spec and the issue went away and it was covered under their warranty. Fast forward and my braking was being problem with lots of squealing and vibration. I initially ignored it, assuming it was because of the brakes and rotors being new and us having had lots of rain so perhaps it was surface rust that would go away. (Car was sitting while I was traveling.) But it got more concerning and I took it in after giving them a call. It was with them for the day but they called me the evening and said they'd identified the problem to be the rear 2 brake pads that were poorly manufactured. They upgraded me from midtier to high at no charge and when I got the Forester back it no longer made the squealing noise and the braking was much better. All of this was covered under warranty as well at no charge. Now I wish they'd given me the higher tier brakes all around to begin with. But I'm going to make some assumptions here: A) They tried to save me some money with the option that works for 99% of people, 99% of the time. B) I hadn't asked for the upgrade. Additionally, that was the manufacturer's fault that those rear pads were poorly made, not the mechanic's or the shop's. Overall, I'm very pleased w/their service so far and will continue going here. I'll update the review when needed.

Update: Changed rating to 1 star, 0 if I could, because after they installed my tires and recommended several questionable services they claimed my truck needed, I got a second opinion and as it turned out and I figured, none of the multitide of services for several thousand dollars they claimed I needed were FABRICATED and NOT NEEDED. A very unscrupulous facility on a money grab looking to take advantage of customers. BEWARE of this shop, you have been WARNED! .............................................. Very slow service, I had an appointment scheduled for a simple tire installation that took them 4 hours to complete. A scheduled appointment should never take that long to complete for such a minor service especially when you have an appointment scheduled. Very disappointing and will not be using this facility in the future.

First time I went for emissions it was a great experience Second time when I went in to have them figure out what the problem with my work truck is since it's making clinching nose They told me it's the wheel bearing and quoted me $1500 I refused the service I hired a guy off Facebook He finished the job for $350 including the part It's my suggestion to the shop to be considerate and not just charge arm and leg

I went here for a pre purchase inspection of a car I was looking to buy. They were awesome! Originally I was going to another place for the inspection but when I got to that place they couldn’t do it anymore. I scrambled a bit because I had borrowed the car for the inspection. So I looked online and saw Steve’s Auto Repair. I called them and they were able to fit me in that day. So I immediately drove to them and dropped it off. It only took a few hours to do the inspection. They were very thorough, at the end they sent me an inspection report with all the things they thought was needed for right now and in the near future. They even included pictures of things and gave me quotes on what it might cost to fix the issues. This gave me the information I needed to go back to the seller and negotiate with these factors in mind. I didn’t end up buying that car but when I’m about to buy next time I’ll definitely take it here again. I would highly recommend, very professional and knowledgeable.

If you're sick of getting ripped off for basic stuff like oil changes, Steve's Auto Repair in Woodbridge is the move. I looked into them, and they’re legit. No BS, no upselling, just straight-up honest work. I’ve had everything done there—brakes, engine diagnostics, you name it—and they handle it all, from routine stuff to serious repairs, since 1979. They don’t try to nickel-and-dime you, and the fact they offer a 2-year/24,000-mile warranty is clutch. Plus, if you can’t hang around, they’ve got a free shuttle to take you where you need to be. It's like having a hookup at a garage that knows cars inside and out without trying to hustle you. If you’re tired of paying dealership prices for basic stuff, just go to Steve’s. It’s all about solid work, great service, and keeping things real.
