Subject: Formal Complaint Against Stress-Free Auto Care Address: 2941 Geary Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94118 I am writing to formally express my serious concerns about my experiences with Stress-Free Auto Care located at 2941 Geary Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94118- Phone: (415) 751-7860. Based on my multiple visits for repairs on two different vehicles, I feel compelled to warn other potential customers about the untrustworthy practices multiple misdiagnosis , and inflated charges at this establishment . Top Reasons to Avoid Stress-Free Auto Care: 1. Untrustworthy and Misleading Practices: I have experienced poor workmanship, misleading diagnoses, bogus additional fees and inspections having had the same issues addressed multiple times—specifically, vibration, leak, grinding noises, rough rotation, and shaky wheels when turning. Despite being told that these issues stemmed from the steering rack which they replaced , I am still facing the same problems after so many visits , which indicates either a lack of skill or intentional misdiagnosis to inflate charges. 2. Alarming Payment Requests Questionable Billing Practices One alarming aspect of my experience was the way I was treated when asked to pay a staggering amount of $7,651.01 in cash or cashier check! It’s unreasonable to expect customers to pay such a large sum in cash or by cashier's check, especially when all my credit card payments had been approved through the year. This request feels suspicious, suggesting they were aware that their previous repairs were inadequate. The ongoing issues—vibration, grinding noise, rough rotation, and shaky wheels—indicate that the problems were not resolved, and this pattern of misdiagnosis raises serious concerns about their shady business, expertise and integrity. 3. Inflated Fees and Bogus Charges: The shop has charged me excessively for repairs and introduced unjustified fees, including a "storage fee" of $175, which I was neither informed about nor signed for. This charge is not only unethical but potentially illegal. 4. Repeated Misdiagnoses and Concealed Issues: I brought my vehicle in for oil leak issues and a transmission inspection, only to be charged double fees for additional and unjustified inspections (over $900) for what should have been a straightforward assessment. They failed to inform me of the actual leak until I came to pay, after having the vehicle for ten days. Concealing this, despite the high inspection fees, is unethical and unacceptable. 5. A Disturbing Pattern: Multiple Visits, Numerous Bills, and Persistent Issues at the Repair Shop • Mon, Dec 11, 2023, 11:05 AM: Same leak inspection & repair — $2,349.38 • Appointment: May 25, 2024, 9:00 AM/ Leak never fixed right • Invoice Date: May 30, 2024, 3:47 PM — $1,420.17/ Leak never fixed right • Invoice Date: June 14, 2024, 3:27 PM — $1,394.47/ Leak never fixed right • June 14, 2024, 3:27 PM: Invoice — $1,423.73/ Leak never fixed right • Wed, July 24, 2024, 11:03 AM: Issue persisted; re-fixed on July 27 due to same problem/ Leak never fixed right • Wed, July 24, 2024, 11:03 AM: Ongoing issues; additional visits for the same problem were made on different dates/ Leak never fixed right • October 29, 2024: $7,651.01/ Leak never fixed right-still leaking as they acknowledged 6. Poor Customer Service and Lack of Resolution: When I sought to resolve these issues, manager Mr. Loren Winfrey refused to compromise or reach an amicable solution, I tried over and over but he shut the door in my face each time . My attempts to escalate the matter to his boss Mr. Yinon Weiss were met with indifference! I have documented all my interactions, including receipts and invoices, to support my claims. Given the pattern of behavior exhibited by Stress-Free Auto Care, I intend to file a complaint in court to protect other consumers from being subjected to similar experiences. Beware: Stress Free Auto Care in San Francisco! It Will Cost You More in Damage and Dollars! 💵 Dozens of bad reviews online warn consumers about this shady business! I wish I had listened to all these warnings! Stay away from Stress Free Auto Care in San Francisco! I had a terrible experience at Stress Free Auto Care in San Francisco. Not only did they seem underqualified, but they also overcharged me to “fix” issues they caused in the first place! I ended up leaving with more problems than when I arrived. They didn’t take responsibility for the poor work, and instead, blamed me for it! Avoid this place if you value your car, time, and money. These guys are all about taking advantage. Stay away! They are vultures!!!!!!

¡Evita este taller de reparación! No puedo recomendar este taller de reparación de autos debido a mi experiencia extremadamente negativa. Me cobraron el doble por servicios que nunca se realizaron correctamente. Recibí una factura falsa y un diagnóstico engañoso. Cada vez que llevé mi auto, salí con más problemas de los que tenía al entrar. El taller no solo no resolvió mis problemas, sino que también inventaron nuevos cargos y no me dieron explicaciones claras. Es alarmante ver cómo operan de manera tan deshonesta, dejando a los clientes en una situación aún peor. Si valoras tu dinero y la salud de tu vehículo, ¡mantente alejado de este negocio turbio! Hay muchos otros talleres que ofrecen servicios honestos y efectivos. No te arriesgues a ser estafado aquí.

I’ve generally had a positive experience with Stress-Free Auto Care. They do solid work and focus on addressing the core issues with your vehicle. However, I did encounter significant problems during one visit. They accidentally left a strange-looking dookie in the hidden compartment of my trunk, and worse, they left my car outside with the sunroof open during a rainstorm. This resulted in water seeping in and creating a persistent moldy smell. Additionally, they did something that caused static lines to stretch across my infotainment screen (see photos for reference). After spending over $4,000 on repairs, I ultimately had to trade in my car due to ongoing issues. While their customer service is straightforward and they seem dedicated to solving problems, my experience has left me cautious about recommending them. I'm still paying the $4K+ repairs with their financing partner, Snap! Finance, and they're charging me an interest of 100+% because I couldn't pay them within the 100-day window.

It's very easy to make appointments either online or the phone. The diagnostic reports are really transparent and let you know what the priority fixes are. Estimates are helpful and outline exactly what needs to be done. I also appreciate the one way Lyft ride when I need to get to work or pick up my vehicle. Overall, great quick and transparent service. Would 100% recommend.

Had a oil leak brought it to check there work out. They called said needed to change the price from $500.00 to $1000, so I figured they would do a good job, but no picked up the car with my baby, we drove a couple of blocks and car started smoking I looked under hood they did nothing I asked. The smell was so bad told them them the issue they looked confused the short guy was laughing what a Waste of time and my daughter had to smell smoke which was really intense at this point. People said this Place change since it's under a new ownershit do not go there.You will be disappointed and come out of pocket more. Update : I been back 6 or 7 times! My car had GM parts they took out my parts from the dealership and put junk yard parts in I noticed I was so mad my car only had a oil leak now several parts got tampered with fan messed up oil every were. Almost $2,000 later and they still can't fix it this is the shop from hell! Please do not go here I advise every person they take advantage and pretend to do work. Smoke in the car, they never fixed my car gave me the run around very shady service this place has a bad repetition people are talking saying I thought they would be shut down by now.

I recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Excellent service from Rebecca to the manager Loren. On my last visit I give them an A ttttttt. Excellent! They managed everything and added extra fixes so that my favorite, very old car is running smoothly. They even offered a rental car when they had to keep it longer. No charge to me and took me there in seconds. The service is exceptional and I can’t say enough about their communication. Rebecca gives details for every fix that is needed and will promptly ask if I want it done in the visit. There are no surprises. They all work well together and Loren is always around if there needs to be other questions answered. Highly recommended-easy to get to. Fair-safe and trustworthy. They are my go to for everything. Thank you to the shop on Geary. So grateful and appreciated!

I was behind on several car issues - and turns out I had a few more - because I always dread going to the average auto shop. This is NOT the average auto shop - so easy to schedule, they communicate with you throughout (with text updates, photos of work in progress, etc.) and got it done ahead of schedule. Plus, the work was top-knotch. Can't recommend Stress-Free enough!

This is the first time I've ever used stress-free auto. Although the results of my visit were inconclusive, I'll be back due to the fact that they're very close to my house and I just get a good feeling from the place. The four stars are due to the fact the technicians could not find the source of my misfire/trouble codes but that's not really their fault as misfires can be very difficult to track down sometimes and it was not possible to leave my car there over the period of a few days to allow them to start the vehicle when it had been sitting overnight.

Great shop. I highly recommend. They went above and beyond dealing with a previous shop's botched clutch job on my older civic. Not only did they do exceptional work on the car fixing all of the mistakes, Rebecca also spent lots of time fighting with both the insurance company and the old shop to get it done. Extremely transparent and thorough mechanics. Very professional and quick and it was a huge pleasure to work with them!

I've been to stress-free auto twice now, and don't think I'll be back. Stress-free Auto was really quite stressful! The good: the staff are all very friendly and helpful, WHEN they communicate well, it's really nice, and getting an appointment is easy The not-so-good: they tried to charge me $250 for just LOOKING at the car! As an "inspection" fee - I drive a 1999 car, there is no complicated computer or diagnostic to run. I brought it in saying that the exhaust smells very strongly and I thought I may need a new catalytic converter, but could they take a look and see if anything is wrong? They kept the car for a day, and didn't send any communications at all - I kept texting and calling to check in (see "WHEN" above) - and when I came to pick up the car they showed me a draft invoice for $2k+ worth of things I could do, from changing a light to replacing all the hoses in the car. There was no mention of anything related to the problem I wanted to fix, the exhaust smell. They wanted to charge me 250 just for this - no work actually done on the car. I agreed to some maintenance / repairs and they said they'd waive the 250 inspection fee as a courtesy. I called my father who takes care of our family cars in another state and read him the pricing for the services. He was astonished, and confirmed that even by california pricing, this draft invoice was an outrage. I felt scammed and mistreteated. I was hoping I'd finally found an HONEST auto shop, and sadly the 2nd time around left feeling like this place is just like all the other many bad experiences with a mechanic 💔

This spot was recommended to me by colleagues and I can see why everyone at work referred me. Rebecca is always friendly and professional. I appreciate this spot because they are always transparent about letting me know the cost of any work before they do it. They are also honest about what work is urgent or can be deferred. As a single female I always feel taken care of here.

Stress-free was great to work with. We had the brakes done on our CX-5. When we had a follow on issue with the repair (parts issue not a workmanship issue) they fixed it quickly and under warranty. They stand behind their work and were so helpful and easy to communicate with. This will be my go to shop from now on!
