(for the Gahanna location) I described the problem (a rubbing and chirping noise coming from the front) and paid the diagnosis fee and was told I needed new rear brakes to solve the issue I was having. Got new rear brakes, and drove away with the same issue I came in with. After taking my car back the next day, I was told it was something else (ball bearings), but really didn't need fixed at this time, but if I wanted to fix it, it would be a few hundred more dollars - bringing the grand total to almost 1K. I feel like I was scammed, but hey, I got new rear brakes I didn't ask for, nor did I actually need. I feel like they didn't do their job the first time, then gave me the run around and ultimately charged me for a misdiagnosis then wanted to charge more to fix the actual problem I came to them with.

I took my economy car in because it would not start. I talked to the guy at the counter in the morning, explained it could be the starter or the Neutral safety switch. At 9am by appointment. I end up calling at 2pm that same day to see what they found. I was told it was the starter. I approved the repair. My car would be ready the next day. The next day comes it's about 3pm I haven't heard from them yet. So, I call to check on my car. The lady I talked to told me they replaced the starter but the same problem was happening. We might have gotten a bad starter I was told. We will call you back to let you know what the problem is. I received a call about 20mins later, telling me my car was ready. From the service adviser. When I get my bill I'm told that he got my price under 900$, and that he had to put other parts on my car. What other parts? Neutral Safety Switch, and Starter Relay. both priced around 20 bucks. Starter is 350$. Replace the starter, car gives off same behavior. Starters not the problem. Right? Must be the relay? Maybe? Or was It the Neutral safety switch? I'll never know because communication was not there. Disappointment. I never would have known that they replaced the starter, and it was exhibiting the same behavior, if I would not have called to check on my car. Is that standard practice. To not tell the customer that the part I approved of didn't fix the problem before moving on? The Service adviser never told me the problem persisted after the starter was replaced. I'm annoyed by this. He just said we hooked you up, saved you 80 bucks. You get a 36-month, 36,000-mile warranty. But then charged me an extra 40+, for stuff he never talked to me about. Took 5 hours to get a quote. The quote for the starter was 625$. Then they wanted to replace my rotors and pads on the rear for 650$. I declined the brake work. I paid 870$ total. For a starter that didn't fix the problem. But replacing a 20$ safety neutral switch did fix the problem. I would have loved to get a second opinion, but I was stuck with a car with starting problems. Thats my experience at this shop. Lesson learned. 2 stars because its clean, and its location to me. 2 stars because of high pricing, communication is poor. I believe my starter was misdiagnosed and I paid for it.

Service was prompt; I had a 9am appointment time, I arrived about 10 minutes early and they got me in immediately. I was leaving the shop about 45 minutes later thus making this visit exceptionally convenient. I will definitely return, hopefully only for routine maintenance, but will give them an opportunity should I have any actual problems.

I took the car in and paid around $5k to get the exhaust system replaced. Tiltons told me they did a quality check and when I got in the car I immediately heard a metallic whistle sound. Brought the car back in, I was told they couldn’t hear the sound after a week and asked if I would come in and sit in the car with the employee. I said “no”, you can’t miss it just roll down the window. Got a call later that they heard the sound and replaced the faulty catalytic converter. Got the car back after being assured another quality test was performed. I immediately heard the sound again and it had not even remotely improved. I now have to bring it back in to get resolved. It seems as though Tiltons wants me to just ignore the sound but I did not pay $5k to get a car that makes more noise.

I’ve had my cars serviced at Tilton’s for 30 years. Andy Tilton operates his business with small town service and courtesy and up town facilities and technology. Tilton’s may be a little more expensive than others. But they stand behind their work and practice ethically. No up sell here

I needed help fast, and Bob at Tilton’s made it happen. My car limped to the shop at closing time, the part was ordered immediately, and the repair was done by the next morning. I was so relieved. Not only was the problem fixed, the noise in my engine went away too!! 5 stars for Tilton’s Auto!!

My accord is 20 yrs old but still runs, looks like new. Not alot of problems mechanically, so I use Tiltons for its upkeep and they take great care with it. I highly recommend their services. Not always the cheapest but their work is gold star.
