They are as crooked as they come. I had a rat chew on some wires in my engine bay. They charged me for new wires (and charged more than normal retail to boot), yet they only spliced the wires and reconnected them. The issue was fixed, but still very shady practices. I would look elsewhere for honest work.

Avoid this garage at all costs! Short form story: they messed up my 2008 FJ Cruiser's brake job and it caused extensive damage to my vehicle. I ended up paying $2697.50 to another mechanic to fix the damage to my car that these guys caused. Making matters worse, I let them know over over 4 months ago about the situation and they have effectively ignored my calls and emails to address their shoddy work. Here’s the long form story: I paid them $550.00 for a brake job on my SUV. They let me know they were having difficulty getting my emergency brakes back in place and asked me if it was ok for them to leave them out of my car, which I refused, or for them to shorten my emergency brakes which they said would shorten the lifetime of my brakes, so I refused that as well. They told me they would ask around their shop and get back to me with whether or not they could get them on properly. Instead they called me back and said the car was ready. When I asked about the emergency brakes they said they were able to get them on without any further story. A few weeks later I’m driving on Western Avenue and run over a manhole cover, not an open manhole cover, not a pothole, but a covered manhole, with a four wheel drive vehicle no less. I hear a loud crunch and what sounds like a crash within the back of my car. I immediately pull over and have the car towed to a AAA certified garage that I’m near. They let me know that my brand new brakes kits were installed incorrectly, that the emergency brakes came off and caused extensive damage to my vehicle that would cost $2697.50 to repair, costing me a whopping total of $3247.50 for what was supposed to be a simple brake job. I contacted the AutoTecx team with the hopes of them paying for the repairs that their mistakes caused, and after over a month of back and forth emails I was finally able to talk with the owner of the shop, Sayed. He emphasized that I would be dealing with him moving forward and that he would check both within his shop to see if something was done wrong that would've caused the damage and that he would follow up with the owner of the other shop where the additional repairs were made, that was 3 months ago. I've reached out via phone and email since and heard nothing. In their defense the other shops documentation was sloppy. With that said, they no the brake job was done wrong and they have done nothing to make amends for their poor work.

They are the best! They saved the day! I was in Chicago visiting family. On my way back to the quad cities with my granddaughter, I heard a noise under the car. I stopped and looked and something was dragging on the ground. I needed it fixed right away to drive home. I called one service place and they said no they were busy and closing at noon because it was a Saturday.. I called Touhy Auto Tecx and explained my situation. They said they would take me right away and look at it. Fortunately they were only 2 minutes away. I got there, they took my car in immediately, fixed it and was complete in less than 15 minutes. I couldn't believe it! They were the nicest and went out of their way to help me! They are the greatest. Thanks so much!

An hour and a half for an oil change? Guy at register has a very blasé attitude that was a turn-off. I asked for the alignment to be checked & it got lost in translation somehow which is crazy bcz I'm already telling you something is wrong I would like a quote so you would think they would've wanted the business. That's why I like to go to smaller shops & deal w an owner directly because the customer service is always better bcz they care about having your business.

I take my car to the ORIGINAL AutoTecx at 7111 N Clark, which was originally at the Touhy Ave location. When they were forced to move, the new business on Touhy stole the AutoTecx name. For that reason alone, I do not trust the Touhy Autotecx to work on my car.

I'm from Wisconsin and my son attends Loyola University in Chicago. My car broke down shortly after I picked him up for Thanksgiving break and I didn't know who to call - they were 1 of 2 places that were close to my location and I am so glad I called them. They came out to the car, diagnosed the issue, and were on top of getting things done right away. From helping me get my car towed to getting the axle rod repaired, they were great to work with and they got us on the road right away! I hope my car doesn't break down in Chicago again, but if yours does give them a call - I know they will take great care of you.
