An honest mechanic! Vinh, the mechanic is professional & didn't overcharged for the work that he did for my car. He was upfront with the cost & he discussed the problems with my car. I don't trust the 1 star reviews from here. I think those that wrote negative reviews are those that try to steal customers from a honest, hardworking man. Shame on them!!

I had to get my brakes fixed and he was awesome. He staid late to get the job done and had a very nice and polite personality. Also, a very trust worthy guy which can be tough to find when trying to get car work done. Highly recommend this place!

Over priced. I came here for a quote for an easy fix, he said $200. I went elsewhere and got a much better quote of $60. Really glad I didn't repair my car here... beware.

Vinh Phat is one of the most trustworthy mechanics in San Diego. I’m a female and have always worried who I can trust in the auto industry. Vinh told me exactly what was wrong with my car and fixed all my problems. He went above and beyond to replace my brakes and rotors. He is very kind, knowledgeable, honest, generous and does excellent work. He is also extremely quick with his work. He knows what he is doing and he knows how to treat his customers. I highly recommend his services! I will be going to him for all my auto needs in the future!

I had a terrible experience at Vinh Phat Auto Repair & Muffler. The staff were rude, my car sat there for over a week with no updates, and the issues weren't fully resolved. On top of that, they overcharged me without clear explanations. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Save your time and money by going elsewhere.

This man doesn't know how to change oil. You shouldn't change the oil on it because it does its job very poorly. If you don't want to get your engine replaced, don't come here. He also does not admit his guilt, although he installed the oil filter incorrectly.

My gf’s car has a few issues and she always wanted to fix them but her work schedules didn’t allow her to do so during the week days. Sunday is the only available day and finally she got to do today!! The shop owner was a true gentle man! He fixed front rotors, AC and did service on the front bumper! Now AC is working great and no issues on vibrations when brake is applied! Amazing auto place! Please come here and support their honest and great business! Cheers 🥂

Vinh is the man! I took my car to my local dealership recently because the check engine light came on. They quoted an outrageous amount to replace the needed part. I bought the part myself & Vinh installed it in under an hour, on the weekend no less, for a very fair price. Very friendly and helpful!

I had my car serviced here two years ago and I still have guilt around not yet writing a review. This man makes me happy to have car issues, so I can support a true mechanical artist. I found Vinh Phat Auto Repair on Yelp and glad that I did! After dealing with many dishonest and greedy mechanics, I believed ALL mechanics are equally “effed up”. HOWEVER, Vinh gave me a change of heart! He’s a one (1) man show that takes pride in his work. He is honest, knowledgeable, reliable and affordable. I needed my rear brakes and rotors replaced. He recommended I buy the parts at Auto Zone and I just pay for the labor. He specifically advised me what to ask for and buy, so I didn’t have guess or explain anything to Auto Zone. After all is said and done, I can confidently say he’s LEGIT! With that being said, look no further! Get you some friendly fast efficient customer care from “The Man” and the owner himself, Vinh Phat! I’m another satisfied customer who will be returning for all my car maintenance/repairs🫶🏼

Vinh is amazing! He was able to take care of my car right away, even on a Sunday, and told me where exactly to buy parts and to bring them right over. He took only an hour to fix up a few items with my engine and I was on my way! Very honest and affordable, I'll definitely be coming back!

For the last couple of months, my car has been having issues with different parts because I have been irresponsible. I didn't feel safe driving around it so I stop driving it for about 4 months. I finally decided to take care of my car and found Mr. Vinh. He has been wonderful. He took the time to explain the diagnosis, what steps to take, and what actions to take too. My car is now driving smoothly and I'm worry-free after a long time. I am excited to have a mechanic as awesome as Mr. Vinh. He is someone that you can trust.

I brought in a car I was expecting to buy for a pre-purchase inspection. This man Vinh saved me what may potentially have been years of hassle. Within five minutes he showed me signs of rust on the underside of the car, and simply told me not to buy it. All for $60. Honest man, couldn’t recommend him more.

I will always recommend this place to anyone who has car troubles. This is the only place I will go to from now own. My dad recommended me to go here and I'm so thankful he did. Mr. Vinh is extremely helpful and considerate. You can tell he is very experienced and good at his job by the quality of his work. He changed my oil and checked my battery and he was able to replace it right away. He's always fair with his prices and you can tell he his honest and fair and won't try to make extra money off of you. To top it all off he is very polite. I highly recommend his business.

I’ve been to Vinh countless times with all of my family’s cars. He’s super honest about what needs to be done and what doesn’t. I’ll usually buy my own parts and then pay him for the labor. He’s thorough but quick and can usually fit me in same-day depending on what needs to be done.

This is the best auto shop in San Diego. Vinh helped me get my dead car started 10 minutes away and took a special trip to the junk yard to find the engine piece I needed. He gave me free labor on a part of the car I did not know was damaged. He also topped up my fluids and made sure my car was good to go because I had not driven it in 6 months. Very friendly guy and the mechanic I trust. This was the first time I did not feel ripped off.

Vinh is amazing! Most auto shops are closed on Sunday, but he was able to take my car in and get it back to me in less than two hours. I've gone to him a few times already and I can trust that he is giving me honest feedback about my car and charging me really great prices for his services. You can tell that he really cares about his customers. He's my go-to mechanic now.

I go to Vinh for all of my car needs! Vinh is friendly, knowledgeable and honest, which is something you cannot say for all mechanics. Vinh has always given me an honest estimate of the repairs that need to be done and has also guides me to only get the work done that is completely necessary. The repairs that I've needed in the past were always completed quickly and to a level of quality that impressed me. I will continue to go to Vinh and recommend him to anyone who needs car repair!

I was referred to Vinh by a friend of mine and, since going to him, have not gone to another mechanic for any maintenance or car repairs. He definitely runs a top quality business that is fast and fair of pricing! Everything from hose repairs on my coolant system, installing new starter and alternator and even diagnostics for the next car issue that may arise. I trust him to get the job done and he is always able to fit me into his schedule. I currently drive a Toyota Rav-4 but, I would trust him with just about any make or model!! Will be recommending him and returning to him for years to come.

Vinh is old-school. He problem-solves. He is logical. He is good with his hands. He fixes. His shop may not be pretty, his lift is creaky but it is pretty organized and is efficient as is he. My old VW bus' catalytic converter's elements had disintegrated. A surf buddy welded a new one I ordered for me in his garage. He noted that the rubber hangers were totally shot and needed replacement so that the whole muffler assembly better deals with the bouncing of the car, and that they were an easy purchase at a muffler shop or auto supply store. Hard to find the right ones for a discontinued old bus though. There was still a rattle which I assumed was due to the missing rubber hangers, even thought the rattle-trap cat-converter had been replaced. I saw Vinh's review here that he specializes in mufflers and went to him. He replaced one of the needed rubber jobbies, and re-engineered the other one that had only partially disintegrated. Genius workaround. No need to hunt down from Latvia a genuine replacement. Old school problem solving needed he said. Done. I asked him to check the weld for integrity telling him it was done in a garage by a friend. Then he said then he'll look at the whole muffler assembly from engine to tail to be sure. OMG. Thank you, Vinh. He pointed out, no fault of my friend, that without a lift, he couldn't have possibly seen that due to the disintegrated hangers, the whole assembly had dropped down just enough such that when the buddy welded on the new catalytic converter, the section between the engine and the cat-converter was sitting on swaybars, _instead_ of hovering above. That explained the new rattle that appeared after the replacement with the new cat-converter. That pipe would have at some time abraded and broken, with raw exhaust coming up into the cab. I don't know enough to surmise what would have become with the anti-swaybars. Vinh readjusted the gap using his ingenuity. He saved me from a future problem with a smile. He explained each and every step he was doing and even asked me to lift here or there when needed so he could do the job correctly. Vinh is smart, modest, good-natured, and asked for a very humble price for his great service. I will definitely be taking The Cloud to him again, and you should definitely consider him and his mechanical skills too. Go see Vinh Phat.

way too expensive quote for a very simple muffler swap. ive had this done several times in orange county for gods sakes for a fraction of what he quoted me. probably because the shop was empty that day lol. took my business elsewhere.
