A+ service and they have become my go to shop for any automotive needs to do the high integrity of the staff. Had the car making an awful rattling noise and I feared the worst, they could have easily taken me for a ride and lied about work that needed done. Instead they found a rock that caused no damage, removed it, told me about it, and sent me on my way at no cost 😭. That's how you gain loyal customers

Don’t EVER take your car here. Brought my 2006 subaru legacy in for service on 5/13/2024, the code was a cylinder 1 misfire. They did some things that were preventative, along with things that should’ve been relegated to the issue. All in all I paid $1,310.10 (see attached invoice). When Marvin called and said I could pick up my car on Weds 5/15/2024 I paid, left, and within minutes of leaving the shop it was idling EXTREMELY rough, it would go from 1000 RPM to almost dead and then jump back repeatedly. I quickly took it back to Marvin, he apologized and stated the tech who’d handled my car he didn’t know how long he would stay employed there as he wasn’t checking his work thoroughly. I was patient and said mistakes happen, and advised I only drive 10 miles a week (work remote) and said keep it as long as you need, I just wanted a working car. After a month of my car sitting outside their lot I became worried about their ability to handle fixing my car. At one point I called and spoke to Marvin and he’d said the cylinder head had been pulled and was ready for a machine shop, but my car was still sitting outside, flash forward another two weeks I was told they were finally pulling the head off to send to a machine shop. About a week later I get a call saying yeah it’s a bad cylinder head, there’s a hairline crack on it, and he (Marvin), couldn’t find one available online for 2.5i boxer (which is nonsense, a quick google search will net plenty of results to choose from/purchase). He (Marvin), then proceeds to tell me there’s nothing they can do for me, but that Marvin would talk to Chuck about giving me a partial refund (granted this was after two months of my car sitting at this point). I then get a call the following day from Marvin who says because of the “work” we did pulling the head off, that they couldn’t provide any refund. I go the next day and pick up my car, and once I get home I look and all the bolts needed to both get to the cylinder head (for cylinder 1) were dusty. They didn’t even touch it, they just held the vehicle without doing anything, nor could they provide photos of the head while it was “removed”. As stated earlier, don’t EVER take your car here. And to Marvin and Chuck, I AM OWED A REFUND Responding to their nonsense message, you were NOT in contact with me, in fact each time I had to call YOU. I’ve documented the call records, let me know if you’d like to see them. I was assured YOU would take care of it and you didn’t. I left with a car in WORSE condition than when I left AFTER PAYING 1,310.10!!!!!! DO THE RIGHT THING

I've been bringing my trucks here for several years now, making the trip to specifically come to this shop even when I didn't live nearby. Marvin has always done well by me and I wouldn't trust my vehicles with anyone else.

I drove into West Avenue Automotive and Transmission because the usual garage I use was booked until next week; my wife was taking our car on a 500 mile trip in two days. This shop used to be a transmission repair shop only, but now works on everything except tires and alignment. I was pleasantly surprised. It's not a large garage but had enough work bays to accommodate me in less than an hour. The mechanic who worked with me politely told me the air filter looked a little dirty and should be changed soon. Translation: it looked awful and had not been changed in a long time. When I changed it at home, it looked even worse! Four quarts of Mobile 1 and I was good to go. It cost less than I expected, and the mechanic asked if I were military, which knocked off another 5%, which always helps. I've driven past this garage for several years without ever stopping. The waiting room was clean and offered Kurig Coffee: that makes them a keeper. Based on my experience today, I highly recommend West Avenue Automotive and Transmission. It's not far from Walker Ranch Park on West Avenue. Update: 12/27/2023. They do annual state vehicle inspections, too. Update: 3/27/2023. Oil change for my truck. Update: 9/18/2023. Running a sale on tires. Update, 12/9/2023. Business is growing. Update, 6/6/2024. Very busy because they're good. Worthwhile making an appointment.

They did work on my GMC Yukon it had a major oil leak, these guys made sure to do everything in their power to make sure my vehicle didn't leak anymore! I definitely recommend if your looking for a trustworthy & dedicated mechanic. Marvin and the owner were very helpful during this time. Thank y'all!

Brought my suv to get transmission fluid change and their engine inspection which was advertised on the website. Transmission was serviced with a new filter, gasket, and fluid. Along with that they gave me a thorough inspection on everything that needed replacing on my vehicle.(spark plugs, coil packs, valve cover gasket, Engine motor mounts, transmission motor mounts along with front brakes) my car needed some serious help and now it run perfectly again. Definitely would recommend this shop to my family or friends to get work done in a timely matter.

A little story time but it’s worth reading! This happened in 2022. Me and my family were traveling from our home state North Carolina to Mexico when our Tahoe broke down in San Antonio due to transmission issues. The office and mechanics went above and beyond to help us. They immediately figured out the problem and fixed it within 2 1/2 days. We were still able to continue our trip safe and sound. We are so thankful for their service and hope they continue providing San Antonio with the best service and care! Thanks to y’all our Tahoe still runs smooth!

Fast, fair and affordable. Would highly recommend this auto shop! Chuck was very professional, very helpful & had great prices. We were driving through SA heading to a camping site and we thought our transmission was going out due to overheating. We are not from here, so I looked for a shop and came across West Ave Automotive & Transmission. We choose this shop because of his reviews. I called him and he told me come on it, we will take care of you and that they did. He got us in and out in 3 hours (he was busy). He was very honest and told us that we just needed: a transmission fluid and filter change and serviced front and back differentials. Not to mentioned he was very patient with my kids and our puppy Bella. He interacted with us making us feel welcomed and safe. Thank you Chuck and Daniel for a wonderful experience!

I usually don’t rate places, but this one truly deserves it. I got amazing customer service. My car was overheating and I was hesitant to take it to a mechanic shop, because of how they typically overcharge for small minority problems. This place gave me a reasonable price and finished within a reasonable time. My car is up & working! I will continue coming to get my car serviced! I had high hopes for this place cause they fixed my issue and 3 days later the same issue came up. I will not be coming back. Really bummed out.

Marvin is always so kind and helpful. The prices are reasonably. He waited past closing time to allow me the time I needed yo pick up my car. Great service and great staff. The technician I’ve encountered so far are all polite. One time a technician came to pick me up to get my car. Above and beyond!!!

Over priced, horrible, charged me 3x the normal amount just to put on missing studs, even though I provided the parts and was only supposed to be paying for labor. Do not go here, i suggest somewhere more welcoming and professional like break check, I asked for the same service and charged me just over 100 bucks for the same service. Fast and professional for a great price, don't come here for your car needs.

I called for information on my car issue and the mechanic was very helpful and friendly so I took my car in by 9 am. They got it repaired faster than I though (by lunch instead of 6pm) and a great price too. I will be telling my friends and will go back for future issues. Thank you!!

Major issue with Grandson’s F150 (2006) - losing oil so fast can’t keep level up. Took the truck back to West Automotive because had had work done on that truck there and knew they would be able to diagnose problem. West had good reviews too, so took it there. Marvin , the manager took all information about the oil leak and said he would call uas as soon as he could identify the problem. When he called us to report his findings, he explained the the problem , recommended the repair, the time it would take and gave us estimate. That allowed us to figure out what we needed todo to compensate for not having his truck. We agreed for the fix. Marvin called with specifics about problem as they got further into look found additional problem. Marvin explained what was needed with estimate to fix it. He did exactly what he said he would do . And called us to let us know work was done but needed more time to test & drive to make sure no leaks. There were no surprises of additional costs. He called when he felt adequate test drive done. When we picked it up he complimented Grandson on clean engine because he was taking care of truck. That was important. He explained everything done & that all was warrantied for a year. Marvin was personable and professional. Needles to say that not only is West Automotive our Grandson’s go to for mechanic work but now for rest of family!!!

Marvin is knowledgeable, explains what's going on with your vehicle, and has great overall customer service skills. He was willing to work with me and even my dad over the phone while I was at work and couldn't answer questions about my vehicle, which relieved so much stress from an already stressful situation. They work fast and are honest. Sad that I'm moving because this location would definitely get all my car business if they werent 1000 miles away

So I went here a pretty long time ago. It was the beginning of 2022 and I got my clutch replaced there with an aftermarket one. They finished my clutch eventually and I picked up my car and left. Everything was fine the first few days, but eventually it started to give me issues on startup I contacted them and they let me know that it wasn't an issue with the starter, and that they bench tested the starter and everything, but it was still having the issue. I had the starter on warranty from them since they replaced the starter telling me that it was the starter when it wouldn't start initially. This problem prolonged until eventually my car wouldn't start at all one day. I took it to Hyundai where they told me that the problem was due to whoever installed my clutch not doing so properly and the starter was messed up because of that. They had to replace the starter and the car was working again. So I'm not sure if West Ave was putting in faulty starters, putting the starter in incorrectly, or if it was both. I paid the price of a starter just to have to spend more money later at Hyundai for them to diagnose my vehicle, try things to fix it, and eventually add a starter even after West Ave insisted it wasn't a starter issue.

These guys are honest mechanics, i took my truck yesterday at 8 am there had been a weird metal banging sound under the cabin. they called me a few hours later and told me the issue, i googled the parts prices and their price was fair and square. I got a full inspection (120 point inspection) as well. before going there i looked into the reviews, and I think they've earned my positive review.. thank you Marvin, i've found my new mechanics shop
