It's never good to discover that you suddenly have to spend hundreds on your brakes because one caliper started sticking, but the guys in the front have a great manner and it's a pleasure to deal with them.

Scammers Alert! Classic mechanics scamming and upsetting. A week prior I had my cars oil changed at another shop which also inspected my car. They told me I needed breaks, which I knew and a new belt. Also that there was a crack in my right cv boot but that wasn't a pressing issue like the breaks. Heard a noise in my car and figured breaks are due and took it here to wheel works. They called me and said, the breaks were the least of my worries and I needed a whole knew axel, and it was going to fall off. Using scare tactics and also sent me an invoice for over 2500 worth of work including an oil change which I just had done a week prior. Seeing that alone screamed scammers. I told them don't touch my car, and I will be taking legal action if new problems arise that weren't there prior. Called the other mechanic and they told me a lot of folks come to them from wheel works and their shady practices. I took my car to a family friend mechanic who replaced my breaks for 500 and said just the boot needs replacing not the whole axel. Wheel works also tried conning me on an air filter, and transmission mount also not needed. Upsetting me on everything when I price checked it all online. I'm also contacting the state to look at my car this week so they can fine this location. Do not go here, they are untrustworthy and will go out of their way to create new problems with your vehicle.

The guys both at the counter and in the shop were great!! Patrick and James were awesome full of information and helped a lot. Were very respectful of my needs and never felt upsold would do business there 100% of the time!!!!

After spending close to $2,000 at this store along with referring my partner and friends who also bought full tire sets + installation and alignments I"M DONE supporting this business! I've had my truck in for tires, and alignments countless times but this last time the manager Patrick screwed me big time. Had a 2,500 mile trip planned the next day and had just installed new tires and needed to make sure the alignment was good to go. I came in and asked if a tech was available to just CHECK my alignment. Was told to come back in an hour and waited another hour and a half while they worked on my truck. At the end I get called to the front and there is a 18 year old kid standing there along with an older front desk guy (Patrick no where to be seen). They proceeded to tell me my toe was way off (wasn't last time they touched my truck) and that my tie rods were SEIZED and the kid couldn't adjust my toe. I personally installed factory OEM inner and outter tie rods in my truck not 20-25k miles ago and know for a FACT I used ANTI-SEIZE lubricant on the threads to prevent exactly what they claimed (After leaving I went under my truck and put a wrench to my tie rods and had ZERO issues turning them!). I then ask about the camber which is what I was worried about and the the guy in the front desk proceeded to tell me the kid standing there was just an office employee (NOT A TECHNICIAN) and didn't KNOW HOW TO ADJUST MY CAMBER. How a business that claims to be a professional ASE certified automotive service shop puts an office kid to perform an advanced technical service such as an alignment is totally BEYOND ME! What would happen if the kid left something loose and I crashed my truck because of it? Total ignorance on Patrick's part (as acting manager) along with the rest of management to allow this kind of negligence and exposure to liability! Had Patrick told me he was putting a 18 year old office kid to do/ check my alignment I would have just walked out and taken my business elsewhere. In the end, the office guy (thinking he was talking to a clueless customer) proceeded to LIE TO MY FACE saying that neither the camber nor my toe being off would prematurely wear out my brand new $1,500 name-brand tires. I ended up having an alignment done on the road outside of town and big surprise they had ZERO issues adjusting the toe and camber on my truck. Needless to say, this one incident took away ALL TRUST I had in this business and will absolutely not be taking my truck back let alone recommend them to ANYONE in this town. Santa Cruz is a small town and word gets around when LOCAL businesses screw over LOCALS!

Best customer service in Santa Cruz! Front desk staff and tire technician who stayed late to help me made me feel like I’m their most important client! I made same-day appointment and was out of there within an hour. I know they didn’t really, but they made me feel as if they were dropping what they were doing to help. Front desk team was so welcoming, knowledgeable and professional. Expert advice and incredible customer service. One of the kindest and positive persons I’ve ever met! I can’t say enough about this entire experience because it’s not what I expected. Not only was the work excellent and reasonably priced, but I feel like I made a new trustworthy connection at the front desk, and who doesn’t need that? I highly recommend this amazing team!

(Will take this down if resolved) I am pissed wheel works has destroyed my 2013 corolla. At 158k miles my transmission crapped out because transmission service was CLEARLY not done when i paid for it. My friend who is auto tech looked at my transmission oil and it was black and brown when it should be red if the service was done. I went in for an oil change 2 weeks ago and asked for an inspection to make sure everything was running correctly. They gave it a pass and 1 week later the transmission is out. 1: service was not done when paid for, 2: inspection was not done when paid for ( break light was also out and nothing was mentioned), 3: failure to screw in proper parts had my car rattling right after i visited. You guys need to do something to compensate. I went to Toyota and the immediately said i needed new transmissions right after I had visited wheel works and you gave me a pass on my inspection. Toyota is quoting me 7000 for new transmission and I had to buy a new car for 30k. This is unacceptable and I demand compensation. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE FOR ANYTHING!!!!

I called several places around town and Wheel works had everyone beat in price for a set of tires and alignment by a considerable amount. The tires are great, and the service was fast and friendly. This place is the best.

Think twice before getting a repair here. Paid $50 for a patch that blew after a few weeks and maybe 2,000 miles. Waste of $ and time. (It took 2.5 hours) Ended up needing to buy new tires because they couldn’t patch the bad patch job.

I had the great pleasure of Patrick's assistance in trying to fix a tire that was out of warranty. It still held air with a slow leak, but the air valve was bent so I couldn't fill it with air. Not only did Patrick replace the bent air valve and fill my tire for free, but he checked all of my tires pressure, including my spare. I wasn't planning to spend any money on my visit and I had told Pat this, but he still went above and beyond to help me in a moment of need. I know where I'm going for future vehicle needs 🙌 Thank you for the excellent service Pat!!

I went and paid them for a brake inspection. They told me my brakes were fine but I needed a $1,400 suspension for my 2013 Toyota Prius. After I left my CB joints were crackling when I came to a stop with a gentle turn. I will never go back!!

I contacted Wheel Works and Patrick assisted me. I told him I needed a batter for my car a.s.a.p. and he was able to get me in within 30 minutes! The staff was very friendly and I was out of there with a new battery in less than an hour. Patrick was fantastic!

Patrick is a great manager. Helpful, nice, patient and just a good dude to work with. (I'm a PITA customer honestly). They did exactly as I asked, but the tires took two tries to balance (mostly due to me being very particular). Good shop. Nice location if you want to walk to the beach while you wait. I've been going to this shop for 15+ years, and will definitely go back. If you read the one star reviews, they're obviously folks who are mad at their situation and not at the shop, so take that into consideration.

Used to be a great place to get work done. Went there for years. Management has changed and the place seems really sketchy now. Pretty sure they took my rotors and switched them out for some resurfaced junk last time I had my brakes done. I didn’t notice initially, but car is only 5 years old, and the ones they put on are definitely not OEM, and the center hubs are not coated and rusted right away. The last time I went there, I wanted to use my lifetime alignment when I got an oil change. I was skeptical they were going to actually check the alignment, so I watched from across the street. They just did the oil change and then parked the car in the lot. They waited about 45 minutes to call me and said they were done. Never checked the alignment but had a printout saying they did, but with no wheel specs. Didn’t press them on it, just paid for oil change and decided I would never go there again. Shady business.

I just walked in, no appointment. I was greeted right away by staff apon entering the office area. I explained my vehicle needs and was assured my vehicle could get in the reservation list. I asked for the nearest coffee house and was pointed in the right direction. I was called by phone that my vehicle was ready for pickup just as I was finishing up at the coffee house. The entire experience was like a dream. I highly recommend Wheel Works.

I was sold front tires on Friday and planned to be back on monday for the Rear. However at checkout after tires were mounted I was told my rear tires were not available at all companywide and I would have a different tire in rear. I wanted a full set of 4 of same type and brand. I was also never told about warranty on tires. I did not want tire warranty but was sold on invoice anyway. Extra $48. I will be returning tires getting refund and never going to to business with wheel works again

the customer service at the Front St location has always been great. The Service Manager thoroughly explains what's needed at the time of that appointment, and what can wait until the next service appointment. And they've been helpful in finding coupons to apply to my service.
