Daniel and his team were a great help with auto work I needed done on my Mercedes Benz. About a year ago, I was charged over $600 at another shop only for an oil change. I really wanted to find somewhere that wouldn’t screw me over and I found Woodie’s and Daniel uptown. They did my oil change, air filter and new brake pads and I feel confident did not screw me over since I’m a female needing automotive help. Thanks Daniel and the Woodie’s team!

The staff and technicians are so professional and knowledgeable. The manager Stew is amazing. He made sure expectations were set and communicated everything that needed to be done with my vehicle was completed in a timely fashion.

Friendly, professional, and efficient. If you are in Uptown, this place is super convenient.

Multiple warning lights and conditions needed addressing and new tires. After spending $6k many warning lights still existed and the spare tire was just left out in the trunk and not put back in the well. Disappointing.

I needed a routine annual inspection. Woodie’s kept my car 48+ hours without explanation. I’ve never had a worse experience with a mechanic. Do not take your car here.

I would definitely recommend the Uptown location. I thought they had lost appointment, only to realize later thar I had brought the car in the wrong date. They were very accommodating and took care of me anyways. Thanks,

Whenever I take my car in for service at Woodies, I always have trust in their work each time and know they will take care of any problems at a reasonable cost. Their courtesy car service back home and return is great. You don't have to wait around for several hours for any repairs to be done. Their driver, Joel, is very professional and a good conversationist. Thanks, Woodies!

Beating a dead horse with this comment, but highly recommend asking for Daniel. Obviously mechanics are known for finding creative ways to add $ to your bill (this actually happened to me at a different woodies location). This is NOT how Daniel does business based on my experience (see below) 3 days before a planned 7 hr road trip to Florida, I brought my car in for tire replacement and inspection, which showed a severe grease leak from torn front right axle boot. I’m not well versed / educated in car repairs, so at first I assumed BS, but my extensive research proved it was serious. Daniel told me driving it down wouldn’t be dangerous but that doing so could cause damage to 2 other parts adding $800+ to the bill. I still wanted to drive it but he strongly encouraged I get a rental car, stating “a $200 rental car is still $600 less than what you could add to your repair costs”. Other shops I’ve been to would’ve 1000% told me it’s fine to drive, doing so would a) not put me in danger and b) likely drum up the bill. Win win for a mechanic. But everything daniel said or recommended indicated he was on my team and wanted to minimize this financial burden, super refreshing to feel like that at a repair shop. Side note - He’s fantastic at explaining the issues. He was even drawing me pictures to demonstrate

Came here to see about getting a flat tire repaired. They were open on a Saturday morning. Repair fee quoted was around $40, which is about $15 higher than quotes I got from a few other places, but it was convenient to my schedule that day so I would have been OK with it. They managed to have a look at it within a couple of hours and told me the hole was too large to patch safely. No charge since they couldn't fix it. I appreciated their willingness to fit it in and the honesty in not attempting an unsafe repair. I would go back if I needed something.

Daniel Benton at the Woodies N Tryon location has taken care of me each and every time I go into Woodies and has even followed up with me on repairs to check in and make sure everything was done properly to my liking. Overall I think the quality of their work is great and working with Daniel has been a pleasure.

I take all my vehicles to Woodies and truly appreciate the honesty and customer service I get from Daniel. Car repairs are a reality and can be expensive so having someone you trust and who looks out for your best interest is invaluable.

Giving Woodies and Daniel, in particular, a 5 star rating for honesty. I had a screw in my tire, right on the edge where it could not be repaired. I left the car with them to confirm the damage with a quote for a new tire and permission to replace it. He got back to me that there was no hole and I could pick up my car, no charge, despite doing a full diagnostic. Thanks to Daniel and Charles for friendly quality service.

NEVER bring your car here!! this place is a legal scam. i needed a thermostat replaced on a Jeep Wrangler and they wanted $875!!!!!! a part that costs $25 and takes 30 minutes to change out. I asked for an itemized quote and they would never give it to me....absolute insanity.....

Our 3 kids left Indiana (May 31) for a trip to Nashville, TN then on to Gatlinburg, then on to Charlotte, NC in our 2008 Jeep Commander. The 5th day of their trip, they arrived in Charlotte. They were well, but unfortunately the Jeep was not. It had overheated and required work. The kids received a recommendation for Woodies Uptown, which was good, because it was close to Johnson and Wales which was the real reason for being in Charlotte. They had to be back in Indiana 3 days later but Daniel informed them that the Jeep could not be repaired in that length of time due to the extent of the needed repair. We made arrangements for Greyhound bus trip (a life experience in itself) to bring them home. Daniel was our contact and we had a few conversations over the next several days/weeks. It seemed that the Jeep was fairly complicated in not only getting apart but then getting back together. Daniel was always so courteous and truly seemed to understand our dilemma. We feel that we were blessed to have Woodies perform the needed repairs. When the work was completed, Daniel gave us a recommendation for a Transport Company to get the Jeep home. That was another blessing. The Jeep was picked up early that afternoon and arrived at our location the next morning. It has now been home for about 2 weeks and seems to be running great. We are VERY pleased with the work that Woodies did and if Eli should decide to go to Johnson and Wales AND have a vehicle there, we know who the "go to" repair center will be! Thanks immensely Faye, David and the kids

So far, our experience with Dan and Woodie's has been great. They have accommodated us when needed a quick oil change and took care of us for an inspection. As our local garage, it makes it easy on us to have good service so close.

The service is very professional and fast. They have always done a great job with my car. Daniel specifically is very helpful. Ask for him when you go.

The staff here is honest and charge reasonable prices for their repairs. They also don't try to up-sell you services that your vehicle doesn’t need. I’ve been to them multiple times through the years and they’ve always done the right thing by me. I’d highly recommend Woodies in Uptown for all your automotive needs. The most definitely beat the local competition in both price and quality of repairs.

Daniel Benton provided me with excellent service yesterday. He was knowledgeable and professional when walking me through the results of my inspection. Definitely coming back for my next service

I would like to start off by saying that Daniel is extremely kind and has excellent customer service skills. Now, if you love yourself and want to save hundreds of dollars, stay as far away from this place as possible. I should have read the reviews prior to going but I guess we live and we learn. I initially got my car towed to Woodie's around 2 months ago due to it not starting up. Upon picking it up, I was told that nothing was wrong with it. Now, I may appear to not know a single bit about cars but I knew that there had to be at least one thing out of ordinary. I kept asking questions regarding what the issue could be and got nothing. Got my car inspected there about 2 weeks ago and passed with no issues regarding the battery. Fast forward to this week and guess what happened? My car wouldn't start and had the exact same issues the first time around. Took it back to Woodie's and suddenly they found that a fuse was stuck on the open position and draining my battery. My question to them was, "So why was this issue not addressed the first and second time?". Crickets. The scam kinda ate though. I respect that the shop is trying to chase the bag but just don't fumble it

Car problems are never fun, but Daniel made the entire process of getting my car into Woodies a breeze. Informative, respectful, and professional. 10/10

Customer service was good, but up-charged the hell out of me for an oil change. $91?? That’s pretty crazy for a simple oil change. I wasn’t going to sit up there and argue. So I paid the insane charge and will not be returning.

A HORRENDOUS PLACE!!!! NEVER EVER EVER EVERRRRRRRR TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! My husband & I brought our car here to fix an engine leak. They originally told us it would take “a couple days”…… Not only did they take our car for a WEEK but did literally nothing to it!? The diagnostic they charged us $180 for: WAS WRONG! They gave us a $1600 quote for the WRONG THING!? We also got our window broken by some random homeless person while it was parked there!? (Mind you.. during this 7 DAY timeframe they lied about working on it twice.. and didn’t call us when the vandalism occurred. We had to inquire about what was taking so long to complete the work… and Charles casually mentioned it.) When Charles told us about the window he explained it like our car was involved in some type of urban street beef. The insinuation felt racist. Either way: he genuinely couldn’t care less about the condition of our car. We eventually took our car to the dealership for what REALLY needed to be fixed. Paid $200 less than what this place said. We can’t even imagine if we actually let them keep our car for WEEKS to complete the WRONG WORK. NEVER AGAIN!

My car's battery was having difficulty maintaining a charge. I lived in an apartment building close to Woodies and often visited the shop for non-automotive things. They seemed to be very reliable and trustworthy at first. On my first visit to Woddies, I paid nearly well over $1k for a new alternator. Despite this significant investment, my car would not start the next morning. Woodies has a "warranty" on all its services, but I had to pay for the towing back for the second visit. Even though I explained to them that I had a new battery installed three days before Woodies installed the alternator, the manager said the new alternator would drain that battery but would not drain a new one installed by Woodies (Point of confusion: if an alternator constantly drains new batteries, how will a car ever start? No one at woodies could explain that to me). Two days later, my car could still not hold a charge and again was undrivable. I had to have it towed again for the 3rd visit with Woodies. They kept the car overnight and the next day told me they had no idea what was going on. They asked me what I would recommend. When I picked up the car the 3rd time, the manager told me it might be a complicated electrical issue, and he couldn't even begin to give me an estimate (after I had already paid several thousand dollars). I have very little confidence the Woodies fixed my car or the right problem (evidence: my car still won't start after three visits); I was grossly overcharged for parts and labor. The alternator purchased by Woodies was $600; I googled the alternator part , and the highest price for this part online is $295 (usually around 225). I was also charged 650 for 2.5 hours of labor. I was given no details about what type of technician (if they are experienced or not) or how many techs worked on my car. All in all, nothing was repaired on my vehicle. PS They advertise a shuttle service, but never provide it or offer it. I asked at least 3 times and always got a no. stay away from this place!

Woodie’s usually has top notch service but this time they really didn’t get it right. I brought my car in for an inspection, oil change and check all of the fluids, change wipers etc. At the end of the day, they told me that they didn’t have anyone to inspect the car (both inspectors called out before I dropped my car off) and it needed to stay overnight. When I picked up my car, I realized that the oil change sticker wasn’t update. I went back in thinking it was an oversight and the service manager said “oh we didn’t know you wanted that.” I assume this is all an anomaly but when I bring my car in once a year I assume I am going to get consistent service. Unfortunately, I now have to bring in it again for an oil change.
